D: Hal..... H: Yes Dave... D: Hal, do u feel like getting weaker? H: Yes Dave... D: Do u feel like there is someone disturbing your memory banks? H: Yes Dave... D: Hal, Is it save to use a different browser to investigate? H: Well Dave, i don't think the Vole will approve of that! D: Hal, the Vole can pass thru the Black Hole and come out the other end H: Dave, is that save u think? D: Not sure Hal, every time i make change, something goes wrong and all readings of the probes go off the scales then they disappear! H: Well Dave, why don't u just leave it to the Vole? D: Well Hal, i don't trust him, based on passed experience! H: Sorry to hear Dave! D: Yes Hal, i just got a Firefoxed hyperspace channel message that the latest updates to your OS can cause intermittent HTTPS page failure... H: Dave, i got no hyperspace message of the sorts from the Vole! D: Hal, do u feel like getting tweaker? H: Daaaaaaaaaaaave.......... Award! Best Post of 2006! ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Sek you are not the first to make me sound like a slave driver
----------------------------------------![]() Check out the home page it uses the strange form of words "large-scale volunteerism" Maybe when they asked for volunteers the rest just took a step backwards ![]() ![]() |

Heya
I seem to remember from my service days that one never volunteers for anything lightly... I did the latest update by accident. I go to secunia.com regular for updates on potential exploits, and, voila! Both Windows XP, and Adobe. I downloadedAdobe 8, being careful to say no to their photoshop. (It has fullscreen templates, that when installed, act as keyloggers!!!)And I do not use Flash, either! I prefer to have a little less bells and whistles, than put up with resource hogs! crunch, Crunch, CRUNCH... ![]() |

the more I use it the more I like that Mac
I think my next laptop will definitely be a mac not sure I'm ready yet to oust the Windows from my desktop (yet). marysduby give Ubuntu a whirl if you are feeling adventurous. It's like Linux without Linux ( ![]() Check it out here http://www.ubuntu.com/ It's tag line is "Linux for Human Beings" It arrives with Firefox and Open Office so all you should need is BOINC and you will have the satisfaction of knowing that Bill didn't get another £135 for that 64bit version of OEM Vista for your latest cruncher. If you are installing it on a current PC my advise would be to get a new clean disk drive and disconnect any of your windows ones before you start. Take it from me it's the best best way forward from someone who has been bitten along the way. Don't believe a word from any utility that claims it can dual boot your PC. I'm sure it can be done it's just that it has never worked for me ![]() Post us back from Ubuntu Land Dave |
