Re: It's International restart your Windows Cruncher day

after a 27.5 Meg download I now have as well as Acrobat Reader 8, Photoshop Album starter edition V3.0 which I'm sure I didn't ask for (isn't that adware or something equally unsavoury) who knows how many of my 27.5 meg download that unwanted software took up. (It needed an upgrade as soon as it installed itself - another 1.5 Meg ROFLMAO) It's installed a photodownloader in my task bar.

Anyway after a restart and countless agreeing to license this and that

Here is my screen with maximised real estate (you can see 2 more lines of text without scrolling)

My case is rested

Lawrence you can see why we are grumpy

Foxit is 1.5MB, and I can guarantee it's faster. No splash screen, either.

Re: It's International restart your Windows Cruncher day

This thread seems to become the Jack Lemmon / Walter Matthau meeting point of worn CA's.... i must be the youngest here.... new year, 17C, coffee on terrazza, new vows for a new year :D

For those who still think Andy Williams, Herb Albert and Cliff Richard made the best music ever, get the mentioned old iterations of Adobe Reader at either http://www.oldversion.com or http://www.old-software.com

cheers

PS, the BBC reported a few years ago, that the grumpiest people of the UK live in Aberdeen. I don't agree, but do wonder why middle of winter folks walk Union street in just T-shirt showing skin whiter than snow... they must have something else flowing in their veins :P

Re: It's International restart your Windows Cruncher day

D I've just had a look at the foxit website

and it says....

Foxit Reader 2.0 is just released. This new version introduces many exciting features, including multi-language UI, dynamic downloading of add-ons, form filler, better look and feel and much more.

It's started down the slippery slope wink

Roll on Version 8.0.1 biggrin

Re: It's International restart your Windows Cruncher day

Good shout D

although it doesn't appear to have maximised my screens real estate wink 1.5M is a whole load better than 27.5 and doesn't come with extra uncalled for software

btw you may be wondering why paypal. Well I want to set myself up in the fixed/mobile convergence arena ( you have to love the doublespeak) and I have my service up and running and my billing engine ready to rock and roll and so I go to visit my favourite people the one's making the most profit of any bank (I'm doing well to stay inside the thou shalt not advertise rules here) anywhere but pretend to be a local bank - you know the ones - and ask them how I set up the capability (just like BT) to collect money into the business through customers direct debits every month after they have used my Telecoms service.

and the response I get is....

"You need to have been trading for a year first"

aarrgghh what is it with banks surely they should be set up to make businesses a success not shoot them in the foot right at the off.

Feeling like I might need to make my own declaration of independence and move to the land of the free. Just as soon as I get rid of this cough

Grumpy Dave
