Re: Dear Captain We Want You Back

Tis terribly rude of me to keep smapping in your thread...........plus, it keeps your thread at the top laughing

So I shall try to behave now.

Good luck to the real MOT members........hope you come thru this "transition" period relatively unscathed smile

Re: Dear Captain We Want You Back

Au contrare.........

Note........at least access to our forum is available..........oh, and we can read what the Gremlin says about us at his 68 forums laughing

Mebbe you can get one of your retired admins to tell us off

Sheesh - Vaio. Gremlin says nothing about you lot in any of the forum threads I checked out. Unlike the silly thread on your forum.

The attitude the last few months from the MOT crew at WCG is getting soooooooo tiresome.
Apparently someone from MOT has been whining cos JC posts in various team threads when he gets a minute online at WCG forums.
These guys at MOT are obsessed with having that board all to themselves......paffetic.
Seems folk aren't allow to be nice to other teams over there.
Perhaps we should invite MOT to put up their awesome stats over at DC Vault
If I had my way we'd have a single mega team and wipe the floor with them.....all for the good of the cause of course

New WCG guidelines:
Only post in your own team thread.
Allow a minimum of 24 hours between posts.
Kiss MOT's butt at every opportunity.

Mebbe the MOT bunch should join Kev's latest incarnation...'

Whats the deal? This is pretty childish stuff!

Re: smile smile smile Congratulations to BuckShot for reaching 3 Million MOT Points!!! smile smile smile

Thanks gremlin2 for the feed back on the team forum, but until I find out what has happened to Dave I will be holding off on joining the team forum. Sorry if I made you do any extra work on trying to get my signature to work. I hope I can join there shortly if this problem is resolved to Dave's satisfaction if not I will need to consider where to go from here. This is a sad day in MOT history! sad sad

Exchanges With David Autumns

I have finally heard back from Dave Autumns at 00:30 GMT. He forwarded his response to Graham to me. I am using excerpts from the exchange of e-mails between Graham and David earlier today. Note that I have removed some specific references to the disagreement of last night which related to forum policies and an apparent posting in our team forum from someone outside our team. Some of what was said was the result of misinterpretations of actions taken to protect the forum. Suffice it to say, the disagreement was between individuals with strong wills and it probably went further than it should.

Excerpts from Graham's letter to David Autumns:

There is a human outcry in the Forums for your speedy return
After 13 months hard work by you and I, how can you abandon a team that has been so loyal to us
I am pleading with you to please return to our Team
I will then be most happy to hand back your Captains seat
I am just protecting it to ensure that nobody else tries to grab what is rightfully yours
It is yours, you have earned it, now please get back in it for the sake of the Team...
You can't sit back and watch the team fall apart because of a clash in personalities
You was thick skinned enough to overcome TribalWar, this is a storm in a teacup in comparison
Just get back in the driving seat and get everyone motivated before this situation gets out of hand
I don't know what else to say to you, as for once I am at a loss for words
There are over 240 MOT members counting on you, doesn't that mean anything to you David
You started MyOnlineTeam and I genuinely believe that it will fall apart without you
For gods sake come to your senses and give the MOT Members what they want, "Their Captain Back"

Regards
Graham

PS: If you don't come back, Dave Bell and I will start a petition in every Team thread
We will get every member that is willing, to email you asking for you to return to your Team

And, from David's response to Graham:

I believe in God's great plan and this Sunday my Pastor singled me and my family out of a group of about 500 (he hardly knows me) and told me from God heart what he (God) had for me. I believe what happened last night precipitated my leaving MOT as part of that plan. I really do need to refocus. Have a read around Ecclesiastes Chapter 3 - there is a time for everything. Next week I turn 40 a time when life begins they tell me and I need to use the fleeting time we all have on this planet wisely... I need to give my resources (Time effort and skills) to Gods great plan which I will be doing from now on.

This descision is final and I am happy that I have made the right one

You have to give people the right to move on. I am sure those 240 people understand my request to be allowed to do so. There is only one thing that endures forever and you will find his love in the good book.

Please don't arrange a petition for my return. I have received many thoughtful emails today from members of the team and the words spoken in the team thread are heartening that I did make a difference and it wasn't all in vain. Please understand though that I won't be coming back.

I wish you all the best at the helm of MyOnlineTeam.

Your old team mate
Dave

While I would prefer it if David would return, it would appear that he has felt a calling from his church and that he can not make the commitment required from that and remain as team captain. I would hope that he would return to the team and return to crunching for the WCG. I for one would welcome his participation at whatever level he would want that to be, and Graham has expressed the same to me.

Since we appear to have lost David as team captain, we have to have someone take up the helm. In other correspondence, David Autumns recommended my name to the WCG project manager. While I am flattered by David's confidence in me, I have far too many health issues to attend to to allow me to do that, as many of you know. Over the past year, I have come to know and respect Graham's enthusiasm for the team as well as for the World Community Grid in general. It was just over a year ago that he managed to get our team and the WCG discussed in an article on, I believe, BBC Online. That article alone brought over 4000 new people to the WCG, a few of whom are among our team mates. Some detractors have indicated that Graham's assumption of the team captain's position was, in effect, a coup d'etat. I can assure you of the fact that it was not. He and I were concerned that someone from outside our team that did not have the team's best interest at heart could have easily registered with the team and taken the position. We decided to prevent that by having him assume the role as caretaker until all was sorted out regarding David Autumn's intentions. I would like to see Graham continue on as team captain. The position is stressful, as we have seen from David Autumn's departure, and I hope that Graham will be willing to take it on. If other team mates would like to assume this role or have objections regarding having Graham fill this position, we can discuss it in our team forum.

While it is regrettable that David has chosen to leave us to reduce the stress levels in his life so that he can follow his religious calling, it is even more so when I see our team mates leaving without a full understanding of what transpired. I hope that this post will allow all to better understand David's motivations and that we all will wish him the best as he pursues his new direction in life. I hope too, that all of my team mates will stay on and continue to make MyOnlineTeam the team we have all worked so hard for.

Re: Dear Captain We Want You Back

BTW Crunchers Inc is not my place. My place is www.bitbenderforums.com I just checked I have a total of 7 posts there. I'm a member of several forums for teams at WCG & a few rosetta@home ones as well. Unlike some places that are closed and you need to be a member of to gain access. All my posts are also under phicks or phicksus. I don't have to hide behind various alias to cover my arse. All our crunching stuff is public as well at BBF. Either you like it or you don't. If you don't we really could care less.

I found my evil post in that thread.

No I would be in trouble then.

Quite sinister if you ask me. tongue

I don't post or convey fake sentiments. I do hope you captain is happy with his decision. He does seem like a good guy. Whether you believe that or not sure isn't something I care about or will lose sleep over. wink

Re: Dear Captain We Want You Back

Dave Bell,
Thanks for your explanation. I was completely astonishef and sorry when David resigned. I think Graham would be a very active Team Captain. If he wants the position he has my vote.

Re: Dear Captain We Want You Back

Phicks. smile

There was never a problem with any of your posts in that forum, they simply happened to be in amongst the rest. But, thank you for making that fact clear to everyone.

Regards to you. rose

Re: Dear Captain We Want You Back

I think that all the members of MOT need to wake up and smell the coffee brewing....Your new member Gremlin2 is better known as Kevin Robinson destroyer of teams...He has a long history of wrecking teams at the Grid and has formed several teams here at WCG...Of course he wants to push the blame on Crunchers Inc because we follow his antics closely....Kev you know where we live because we do not hid behind closed forums.....

To all the MOT team members---It is a shame that you are going to allow three people to destroy your team.....

Dave Autums is always welcome to come join us at either the DCZone or over at Crunchers Inc....I can say that I respect what you are doing but do not agree with it....May you find the peace that you are looking for.....
