Thanks, Rancho. I'll check it out. Homebrewers, our climb in ranks has been slow due to the spread of points, but if we can get a good return tonight, we might actually jump 7 or 8 places at once. That would be nice -- like the 'old days'.

But do you think there are enough members who would use it? Hardly any of us ever post here. Whatever you decide is fine with me, and you'll have my support. I thought it might give a bit of distance between your personal web and email information and any recruiting we might want to do; I am always concerned about harvesting of personal information when disseminating "contact me" type of emails. The other choice is just to create a throw-away email at one of the free sites. As long as it doesn't bother you, I'm OK with it. You're right, I wouldn't expect many team members to use it. usually I find my command of the English language enables me to express myself perfectly well without any profanity at all. You should be on the Aussie tourist board. Their latest adverts in the US have the tagline (and in order to avoid Nelsoc's attention twice in a row, I'm self-censoring someone else's quote) "where the bl**dy h*ll are you?" That created a bit of a stir in Australia. I'm not sure if anyone in the US actually got offended. H*ll, by the way, is a destination. It's in Michigan, and yes, it freezes over every year. fb |

No stir over here Fred, ad's were banned in England, which created more positive knowledge of the campaign, especially when they changed their mind a couple of weeks later and allowed the ad's to be screened in the original form :)

[Indeed! You are all doing a fantastic job for your team! Thanks, V_R, but Fred B deserves most of the credit. He is, by far, the biggest reason for our success. In just about seven weeks (compared to my 20), he has produced almost five times as many points as me, he participates in these forums, and he is actively trying to recruit more members -- and even considered getting our own domain and website. Anyway, I just happen to be the guy who started the team and initial recruitment, so while I am the team captain, I consider it "our" team rather than "my" team. Now for the good news. I've just checked the teams ahead of us, and unless we have a dramatic drop in performance, we should easily make it into the top 300 by our five month anniversary -- and possibly a day or two before it. I project that our total points will be in the vicinity of 2.5 million, and there are about five teams currently at the end of the top 300 which should not reach that amount before us; on the other hand, there is only one team -- gais-lurons-et-luronnes -- ahead of us that should move into the top 300. I haven't checked lately to see if anyone is behind us and gaining quickly, but I doubt that there are enough to keep us out. Cheers. Bill Velek |
