... Do you still have your website Bill? - if you have, I've lost the link - can you please post it again. ... Here you go. I messed up and deleted my most current version from the server, so this is probably not exactly as I had it last time. Stats are good, though. Also, I'm just a regular guy, so I don't know how to design web pages; while they seem to look good on my browsers on my computer, I've noticed that they don't look as good when I visit them from someone else's computer. I'lll need to work on that part. I need to get to bed now. I'm dead tired from tilling my garden, and I've got duty early in the morning with the Army Reserves. Cheers. Bill Velek |

Well, if you ever want help, pop over to the web site clinic thread in the chatroom. I think you might benefit from external style sheets. What tools do you use for your web design?

I just use Netscape Composer, but I have also merely published pages directly from WordPerfect (a word processor), too. Neither one of them are very powerful, but I have them already and they have pretty much suited my needs. I don't have any business websites, and don't really think I have the time or very much inclination at the present to delve deeply into things like learning html. Maybe someday I'll have more time.
----------------------------------------By the way, 'D', I noticed in one of your posts awhile ago that you used asterisks in the word bloody, i.e., "... if the little green men want to say hello they can bl**dy well land and do it in person." Is "bloody", in that context, considered profanity, and were you trying to avoid a profanity edit by nelsoc? ![]() Cheers. That's an interesting question. The word in question is a very mild expletive, but it, together with some of the more scatalogical expletives, are generally considered borderline. So, over at UserFriendly, the tradition is to suitably obfuscate any potentially naughty words. We have developed some suitably geeky ways of doing it, of course ;-)
At UF, the standard is a little strange. Postings must be appropriate for the ears of a hypothetical fourteen year old sister. Obviously, real fouteen year olds are notoriously potty-mouthed - this is about what you would want your sister to be exposed to. So, I'm in the habit of always obfuscating a couple of words that are viewed differently on either side of the atlantic. Of course, I try not to use them at all, and usually I find my command of the English language enables me to express myself perfectly well without any profanity at all. |
