Re: ATTENTION: HomeBrewers team members

Thanks, V_R, but Fred B deserves most of the credit.
...
I consider it "our" team rather than "my" team. [/quote[

...SOME of the credit: OK.

Thanks Bill! (3:31 AM? You need this! coffee )

Thanks, too, V_R...

All I do is turn the computers back on when they shut themselves down ($#@*ing Dell). Other than that, it's automatic! I am fortunate that I can install the client at work with no trouble from anyone. In fact, I'm eyeballing another server today - if the usage pattern stays where it has so far, I'll be able to grab onto its CPU cycles as well devilish

I'm positively impressed with this particular grid concept, as well. The clients are well behaved, the environment is positive, and it's a worthy cause.

I want to pass on kudos to the other, quieter team members (if they read this: THANK YOU applause applause applause !) who are hanging in for the long haul and are crunching away with dedication. Every result counts - every point counts, and you guys are bringing them in by the tens of thousands every day. cool

Re: ATTENTION: HomeBrewers team members

No stir over here Fred, ad's were banned in England, which created more positive knowledge of the campaign, especially when they changed their mind a couple of weeks later and allowed the ad's to be screened in the original form :)

Now that's good publicity.

It's also a good argument about setting external limits that advertisers can't cross - its unfortunately true that an ad that doesn't push the limits won't be remembered, so advertisement creators are always testing what the media will allow.

In the past few years in the US, annoying ads have been the trend. I finally went out and purchased a digital video recorder (TiVo brand) and thoroughly appreciate the ability to program a 30-second skip-ahead into the remote. Note, it is *NOT* called a "commercial skip" - so advertisers can't complain about it. Let's face it - I'd rather watch 37 minutes of show in 37 minutes than in 60.

Cheers

Re: ATTENTION: HomeBrewers team members

Hi Rudy! Welcome!

Tonight's recipe:
Beef and Fire Roasted Corn Enchiladas

The corn caramelizes in the fire, bringing out the sweetness, which contrasts with the tang of lime, the heat of the spices, and the unique flavor of fresh cilantro

1 lb eye of round, thin sliced strips
2 avocado
3/4 lb fire roasted corn, frozen (or 6-8 ears, fire roasted and stripped from the cob)
1/2 lime's juice
2 tbsp Mexican spice mix
1/2 tsp Mild chili powder
1/2 tsp Paprika
1 tbsp Dried onion
1/2 tsp Garlic powder
1/8 tsp Salt
8 Tortillas

To taste:
fresh cilantro (coriander leaf)
sour cream
shredded monterey jack / cheddar cheeses

Notes:
-Don't oversalt, it will make the corn flavor disappear
-Other cuts of beef, including skirt or flank steak, would work.
-The night before, if possible, marinate the beef with the dried spices and lime juice
-Fresh halved grape tomatoes can be added for a different flavor combination

If tortillas aren't available, any flat soft bread (pita, etc) will also work. Just leave it flat and pile the toppings on pizza-style.

American sour cream can be replicated with clotted cream or creme fraiche mixed with fat free yoghurt about 2:1.

Method:

Preheat oven to 350

Heat corn over medium heat, about 5 minutes, in skillet with onion, garlic powder, and a touch of olive oil

Add steak, and the other spices. Squeeze juice from 1/2 lime into mixture. Cook until browned, about 4 minutes

Spoon into tortillas with avocado, lots of cilantro, sour cream. Wrap, and line up in oven-proof baking dish. Top with cheese. Switch the oven to broil, and broil on Low until the cheese is crisped, about 6 minutes

Takes about 20 minutes, makes about 8

Re: ATTENTION: HomeBrewers team members

Welcome, Rudi. Before visiting our team thread this morning, I was first comparing our team stats with those ahead of us so that I could post our progress. I happened to notice that we just picked up a new member today, so I checked the name and discovered it was you. Man, was I surprised and excited, because I know you are a heavy hitter. We're always happy to get a new member, and please feel very welcome to park here as long as you like, whether it's a few days, a few weeks, or forever. biggrin I know that we specifically solicit homebrewers, but I hope that everyone realizes that they are still welcome here even if they don't brew. But ... just out of curiosity ... have you ever homebrewed? It's a great hobby. I'll be happy to answer any questions that you might have about it.

As for our team, I just calculated that we should move up in rank another five places tonight, and that was without counting on Rudi's points. Now I don't know how much of a jump we'll see. For those who don't know, Rudi has 23 devices, so his parking here is like suddenly getting 23 recruits. biggrin

Well, that good news makes we feel invigorated. In the past three days I shoveled an entire dump truck load (10 cubic yards = 7.6 cubic meters) ... of cow manure over my garden, and then tilled it in. I am so stiff and sore, and now I've got to go out and put the fence back that I had taken down to allow the dump truck to drive in. And then I need to plant. So ... I will not be posting too much today.

Thanks again to all members for their contributions.

Cheers.

Wow, Bill. That's dedication. I'm sure the result is worth the trouble, though. Cheers!

Hi Bill and all HomeBrewers hugs

The temptation of that food and home brew is too much - I desperately need to park here for a while and sample some of it - hope you don't mind! biggrin

My howebrew experience consisted of copper pipes when I was much younger and working in remote sites.
Sure beats beer when you are 400 miles from the nearest town or goat trail.

Congrats with the manure. I currently have a small bulldozer I rented sitting at the edge of my driveway. Tomorrow... depite thaw limits on the roads I am getting 12 loads of 1- 1 1/2 gravel for the first part of my driveway. Sure going to be easier than using a shovel......

Cheers
