I've just run a re-test of attempting to preview the message it wouldn't let me post, and once again it tagged me with a Forbidden error.
----------------------------------------So I backed out and entered "Testing" and hit Preview -- that worked! I then added a bit of text and hit Preview again -- no problems. I also did that with various parts of the blocked message and each Preview worked! Finally I added the entire body of the original attempt, and that got past a preview as well. I note that when I've had this sort of issue in the past it sometimes clears up if I remove some of the text until it will preview, then start adding the text again. Other times, nothing works (apart from giving up and coming back later!) I have to assume that it is something service-access related rather than content-related :-) The addpost server call shouldn't be stressed out, so perhaps it's something proxy-related. Cheers - Al. P.S. Adri was having problems with the word "target" in the Weekend Puzzles thread yesterday. When I did some testing a little later that day it didn't give me problems but Adri seemed to have problems again today, around the time I couldn't post... Well, I still have plenty of test tasks in "Pending validation", even though both wingmen have finished the tasks. It seems as if validation stopped again, after it initially succeeded to validate most of my test tasks.

Before the "no work" day on 2025-10-25 I had a mere 21 properly validated tasks out of 2712 I had returned...
----------------------------------------I got another 786 tasks on 2025-10-26, but I now have 3055 properly validated tasks out of the 3498 that comprises. Yes, I still have 426 Pending, but 59 of those are either waiting for the first wingman to return or for a retry to be generated. It seems to have cleaned up some of the tasks that had one result marked Valid and the other marked Pending Validation, but as I only ever had 35 at peak, and I now have 17 -- I can accept that rate of progress as they're all earlier test tasks and I wonder if some of them might need manual intervention. Of more concern are the 14115 non-test results I have that are apparently awaiting assimilation and the 1116 non-test results awaiting validation... Cheers - Al. [Edited to remove a P.S. about it not previewing when I had a line beginning with More; a subsequent test had no problems with the same sort of text...] [Edit 1 times, last edit by alanb1951 at Oct 27, 2025 8:42:43 AM] |

I still have 423 tasks pending validation, about 60 of which are new test tasks, the rest being production tasks from August. I have many test tasks validated, but I think none of the old ones yet.

It shows that I have 5 in progress when none of my machines have any WUs.

We need to look at WU after the move. The October ones, as these are the test ones. The real ones from before won't be validated until the process runs well on the test WUs.
I still have a handful of test WUs that have both results, but haven't validated. https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/contribution/workunit/765829659 The validator has validated ones returned after this, so not sure what is up with this WU. |

Hi Al,
Yes, I should be able to feed them into the new setup. At a minimum, to get the valid vs. invalid subset after I build up the list of workunits -> paths ready for validation, which I should be able to push to a one-off Kafka topic, subscribe to it with a "task force" of validators and assimilators. We still build the old validators and assimlators in the image, so I can switch off the new stuff and just let the system "heal" after making sure the database is in a state to allow it for those results if that ends up being necessary. About the 403, I will have a look at the apache logs and see if I can figure that one out. Cheers, Dylan |

There's also 403 errors for the ARP1 text files:
----------------------------------------https://download.worldcommunitygrid.org/boinc...rp1_stats/generations.txt https://download.worldcommunitygrid.org/boinc/download/arp1_stats/state.txt Not urgent, just letting people know in case not aware.

Thanks hchc
I've been meaning to ask Dylan if we could have the ARP stat files working again. Hopefully it is an easy fix. |

Dylan,
----------------------------------------Thanks for the reply about getting the older work sorted out. I retired long enough ago that things like Kafka are way outside my experience, but I guessed/hoped that it might be possible to "fake" something to get the old data through without needing to flip between old and new validators and assimilators! Good luck with the rest of the testing and bringing other parts of the system back. Cheers - Al. P.S. Regarding the 403 error(s) -- when I entered all the above in the Quick Reply box and hit Preview (at about 23:35 UTC on 2025-10-27) it offered yet another 403! I backed out and put the text in again as a set of "add a bit, hit preview" operations, and no problems at all. Bizarre (and good luck working out what causes that!...)
