Re: Project Status (First Post Updated)

On my farm of a couple dozen systems, I have:
18 ARP1 resends over 10 computers
3 MCM1 resends over 3 computers
ZERO _0 or _1 WU's of either variety

Re: Project Status (First Post Updated)

Still nothing to be had. Shutting down, until I can read on the forum, that the flow of new tasks is back. I think the entire WCG team went on a summer vacation.

Re: Project Status (First Post Updated)

I asked Jurisica a question in March, and 4 months later zero response from him or anyone on the team. I don't think they give a darn about us, based on actions. They're not active on the forums or e-mail.

Why do you think that? It does sometimes get forgotten or issued late. Also bear in mind that it is at midday GMT (UTC).

However my Sunday Report is about progress and is just as valid if it is consistently late or fluctuates because of 5 week averaging for the forecast.

Incidentally you posted an ARP specific item on a general forum. It should have been on the ARP forum.

Mike

Because it'll refresh and say e.g. that Generation 149 completed x last day, where x is something small like 7 or 10, and I completed quite a few from that generation the past day. So that makes me think there is a possible 24 or 48 hour lag in generations.txt data from reality.

Re: Project Status (First Post Updated)

A cell won't shift in generations.txt until some proof of validation -- it might simply detect that a canonical result has been selected (basic validation), it might have to wait until some post-validation activity has happened on the canonical result, or it might wait until the WU is ready to be assimilated and BOINC database records purged.

I don't think we know which of those cases applies -- perhaps someone else can set me straight on that... The simplest one is the "just validated" case, in which case the "lag" after you see the result validate should be at most 24 hours.

Cheers - Al.

P.S. I'd love to see the queries that generate those three files, and see the mechanisms used to manage generation transition. Knowing is better than guessing, but it isn't going to happen :-)

Re: Project Status (First Post Updated)

shutdown?? I keep checking for official info, and I haven't seen any yet.

I'm still getting a random resend, but not many. My own results list shows WUs with 2 replies, but not validated, just stuck in pending.

I'm hoping we restart the project soon on new equipment, but who knows.

Yeah, that seems to make sense. Validation first before updating that stats page.

+1! I have the same technical curiosity for as much detail as possible just for funsies.

Re: Project Status (First Post Updated)

I'm taking a longer break from all WCG now, until some new and more interesting project is introduced here. It would also help if the WCG team would be more present here, and inform us volunteers about what is going on. As it is now, it's totally silent from the team, no matter what happens.
