Re: Regarding ARP1 and MCM1 download issues since ARP1's launch on Monday Nov 4th, 2024

...how to get tasks ?
Guy

my suggestion: wait a few days or weeks - perhaps the project team gets the problems cleared up some time. I am afraid it will take a while ... :-(

Yep, I've set WCG to "no new tasks" and now I'm crunching Milkyway@home. No point in adding more load on an already overloaded server, not one single additional WU will be done because of that.

@Falconet I can't tell if that's sarcasm. tongue It's getting worse for me. I've got two dozen or more work unit downloads stuck at 11.73% every hour of the past several days.

I hope I am not contributing to the problem with my farm set to 10 days buffer
Considering the 6 days deadline for MCM you might a bit as some WUs are likely not started before deadline and need to be resend to someone else. Buffer should be always significantly below the deadline.

Thank you! But I have on all machines set to 10 days and 'up to 10 days more' however I just looked on my Results page ( https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/contribution/results?validationStatusIds=5 ) sorted 'too late' , 0 results so I seem to not be wasting their bandwidth.

That's a large buffer. Even with all machines set to 1 day and 1 day extra, we still can't successfully download all the files for ARP1 work units (or, most of the time we cannot, with only a few exceptions). You could reduce your days to avoid some issues and bottleneck. Up to you though!

I'd be happy to but how am I reducing the efficiency of their network if all the work units my boxes download are being computed successfully and submitted successfully? And not expiring, evidence is no 'too late' work units

No sarcasm. Managed to download more work today than yesterday.
