It is really frustrating that there is a forum News section and yet there never seems to be a timely update on current issues. I have not been receiving new WUs so came here as the only recently active thread to find several days of similar queries from other users and yet no response. As it is the weekend we will see nothing until late Monday (in European time zones) at the earliest.
(Also, seeing the Krembil "relentless" logo each time I come here just rubs salt in. "Hopeless" or "Useless" seem more appropriate.) |

I have not been receiving new WUs If you take a look at my latest downloaded general task you'll find that in the recent past - from 2023-09-09T09:27:42 (workunit 372880802) till 2023-09-09T09:58:52 (workunit 372890802) - there have been distributed 10,000 workunits in 31 minutes, that's 1,000 workunits each 3 minutes, and since each workunit consists of 2 tasks it means that 2,000 tasks are going out to the volunteers each 3 minutes. If you compare this to 24 hours ago, that is a slight improvement. Yesterday 10,000 workunits were distributed in 35 minutes - from 2023-09-08T09:28:27 (workunit 372451997) till 2023-09-08T10:03:36 (workunit 372461997). Adri |

Interesting and useful little webpage link you provided. It seems the situation is not as dire as I assumed. Indeed, an hour or so after my post I started receiving new MCM WUs. (Prior to that all I had received today was a couple of SCC resends.) Cheers Phillip |

Thank you so much Adri for all your insight into the inner workings of the system. The best "status" page info we can get.

JurasicaLab: We don't want to use volunteers as we want to handle all the communications ourselves even then we don't have enough people and we don't let/empower our communications people provide info... never mind clean up the forums.
So no news on the News and no news in the forum... what's the point having a communications person? Actually, are they still around or did the new one leave too? I haven't come by in a while. Krembil: Check out our wonderful projects supporting research! JL: Can we get some funds and equipment? Krembil: Not now JL, we're busy exhorting the wonderful research the University is doing. |

what's the point having a communications person? I believe the point of having a "communications person" is so that they can "communicate" any information that needs communicating when it comes to hand ![]() |

My two machines with 7950X CPUs are not receiving enough WUs to keep all the processors busy. One currently has ZERO WUs the other only 6 WUs.
My machines with a 3950X and 5950X cpus are barely receiving enough tasks to keep busy. Something broke/changed in WUs release (MCM WUs). I used to be able to have 2 days worth of WUs (to ride through the dry weekends). Or all MCM tasks are getting sent out. Can we have more MCM tasks released to help the MCM project? And or a fix to the release WUs task? Thanks. I remain hopeful for other projects WUs! |

I have shut down all but one of my Linux machines because they have run--- dry. The Windows machine seems to be getting an adequate supply. I have a feeling it won't be long before the the last Linux machine gets shut down.

This deafening sound of silence on the part of Krembil surely indicates another 4 day weekend in Canada, with no end in sight.
