I'm getting a good flow of WUs. My computer has been running all weekend, and it has been wonderful.
Like mentioned by others earlier. Resends aren't going out in a timely manner. Here is an example. This one needed to go out on the 15th. https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/contribution/workunit/351945109 |

Hi Bruce,
Thanks for bringing this to our attention. The issue has been brought to the tech team to investigate. |

This one needed to go out on the 15th. https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/contribution/workunit/351945109 Wonderful? Well, "chacun à son goût"... For all the cases I have seen, those "waiting to be sent" WUs were WUs that had their status "Pending Verification" rather than "Pending Validation". Haven't found any of the later status showing this.and it also seems to be primarily on macOS, which showing a larger "mismatch" in the OS version.And there have been other peculiarities in regards to "Darwin" targeting WUs in various thread... Also, there seems to be another problem brewing in the background, as I noticed that overall, the amount of WUs still being held on the Results page since Thurday over the weekend has more than quadrupled for me, which seems to indicate that the usual "clean up job" isn't running as it should... Ralf I have the "waiting to to be sent" appear on both pending verification and pending validation. Since about 90% of my out put is in Linux, they appear much more often for Linux than Windows. Most of them appear to be older than August 20th.I currently have about 200 listed in the "pending" category. I agree the "clean up job is probably not running. Cheers

Ralf, Sgt. Joe;
Regarding the "clean up job" -- the assimilation/file deletion process seems to be running just fine for both SCC1 and MCM1 at present[1]; I've used the API to sift through all the tasks I've returned that haven't already been "cleaned up" and I couldn't find a single one that was Valid where validation appeared to have happened much more than 48 hours ago... I tried to re-visit some of the tasks that were crowding that 2 day limit an hour or so later, and they had all been assimilated and deleted[2]. In my case, I'm seeing a lot of Valid tasks that look as if they're being held up somewhere because it has taken more than a week to get a wingman to validate! This can give the impression that clean-up isn't happening if there are substantial numbers of missed deadlines! However, at the moment most of my substantial list of Valid items is simply hundreds of SCC1 tasks that took between 15 and 40 minutes each to run, instead of 45 minutes to over an hour (the FLI1-A target is somewhat smaller than the MyoD1-A/B/C targets so those tasks run quite a lot faster!) As for the "Waiting to be sent" -- those are retry requests that are far enough back in the system to not interest the feeder for some reason or another. I wonder if something they've done to try to maintain a flow of [new] work has significantly changed the way the feeder picks tasks -- standard BOINC has a multiplicity of ways of trying to manage task selection, and maybe IBM/WCG added even more variants :-) Cheers - Al. P.S. If you have evidence of work units that are currently taking much more than 2 days to disappear after validation please publish some related work-unit numbers as I (for one) would be interested in seeing if there's a pattern amongst them... :-) [1] Actually, my validated tasks have been disappearing consistently for quite a while -- it's not something that has just changed... [2] I think it can take up to a day for all necessary result files to be saved after validation (at which point the WU is marked as ready for deletion); it then waits a day before actually clearing out the WU from the database. Hence the 48 hours or so... |
