What information do you need from me to get them to display in the Devices page? I just restarted WCG and looked in the Event Log and I see a "Computer ID" of 8784892. Is that it? Yes, that is it, ericinboston. (See also post 689287.) Adri |

I am almost certain I have only this account on WCG/BOINC in general.
This is correct, I am running since Aug. 2, 2023. I report only what I see, that on Oct. 16, 2023 4:24:39 PM I got a notice saying "World Community Grid: 200 year badge - Smash Childhood Cancer". As unbelievable as it can seem (my machine is a new business grade laptop), it is what is reported on my machine. This message is still present in my BOINC client "Notices" section, however when I click on "more" to see it on my profile it happens as I described before. I don't know how ScienceUnited and WCG communicate, but in my ScienceUnited profile all my three machines show up, and it says I am doing work for WCG. Yet in my WCG profile one machine is missing, this one that has been running the most, for which I provided the Host ID. If I can be of any help to further clarify my situation please do let me know how. Thanks in advance! |

SciDuck,
You said the magic words -- "Science United" :-) As far as I am aware, Science United runs your tasks under its user name, and there's no way WCG's stats mechanisms can pick up work run from there and associate it with your WCG user name. Your client, however, picks up statistics based on host id so it sees the Science United activity (and you'll get messages as if you are a user called "Science United" :-) Hope that helps Cheers - Al. |

Just to clarify, Science United received a 200 year badge for Smash Childhood Cancer, not to you in particular. The Science United totals are for its accumulated time from all its members running under the Science United canopy.

The answer is probably here in the last 47 pages but aint nobody got time for that.
I have started work on a new computer that doesn't show in my device list. It is generating work and work has been validated. I have never had to do anything but start jobs before for a computer to be on the list. Is there a magic step I have missed? |

Is there a magic step I have missed? There is currently an issue with new computers appearing in the device list and in one's stats. My experience, when adding new devices recently, has been that the new device does show up of its own accord after 3 or 4 days. If the device doesn't show up of its own accord, you can ask the tech team to add it manually. Just post your Computer ID on this thread and TigerLily will arrange for it to be added. If you need help working out what the Computer ID is, see the post by adriverhoef a bit higher up this page. Cheers, Mark |

Just to clarify, Science United received a 200 year badge for Smash Childhood Cancer, to you in particular. The Science United totals are for its accumulated time from all its members running under the Science United canopy. Hi Sgt!Cheers I think that you above meant "not to you in particular" instead of "to you in particular." And it is as you say, Science United have indeed a 200 year badge for Smash Childhood Cancer. Also other higher badges for other WCG projects. See the link to the stats for Science United: WCG Statistics for Science United Edit: But since SciDuck have a 14-day badge here for MCM, it either means that he have two accounts on WCG, one attached through Science United, and one directly through BOINC, or perhaps he attached to Science United after having crunched a short while here directly through BOINC. Anyhow, I would detach from Science United since SU IMO is crap, and add WCG manually from BOINC. Edit 2: I do not think it's fair to real individual users, that Science United should count as a single member, when it is in fact run by thousands of separate individuals. I think that you above meant "not to you in particular" instead of "to you in particular." Thank you for the correction. My fingers do not always type what my brain is thinking. Cheers

Hello alan,
I see, from what you and Sgt. Joe depicted it all makes sense now. Being new to these projects I had no idea how it worked. Thanks a lot for your clarification! ![]() In this case, I can infer that if I wanted to track my contribution exactly it would be better not to connect my account to Science United? Regards, SD |
