boinccmd --network_available will only trigger server access if there are stuck transfers.
----------------------------------------wcgresults -x will only trigger server access if there are stuck transfers. Neither should be done too often, 10-15 minutes is enough to clear stuck transfers. Paul.

boinccmd --network_available will only trigger server access if there are stuck transfers. Well, that indeed wouldn't be that bad, but what I objected against was the poster askingwcgresults -x will only trigger server access if there are stuck transfers. Neither should be done too often, 10-15 minutes is enough to clear stuck transfers. Paul. For a non programmer like me, can you explain how to make a Windows command prompt repeat every X seconds? There is a HUGE difference between using a command like the above every 10 minutes (or manually hitting [Retry now] or selecting "Retry pending transfers" every few minutes) and doing this "every X seconds"...If you really have that many stuck download files that you have to resort to such automated tools, this will as I mentioned result in a lot of additional connection requests, which are in short supply. Let's say you have 200 files to download (that's about 40 OPN1/OPNG WUs worth), doing that every 10 seconds, that creates up to 1200 additional requests a minute...If just 100 people are doing such nonsense, that are an additional 120,000 connections attempt per minute. There are still thousands of people trying to download their share of WUs on WCG. Do the math as to the additional strain that is put on the system overall, making thing sso much worse, for everyone... Some folks just "don't get it"... OMG ...
----------------------------------------downloads are made 2 files by 2 files if 4 file fail to download boinc make all files in download list to pending time. so only 2 request at a time, not 200 and with a 15 min delay your 200 files will be downloaded in 42 hours. (that only if the next download is success and not fail) ---------- I looked at the transfers tab of my boincmgr for quite a while and I concluded the following: a successful download takes 1 second, a failed download takes 3 seconds, so when everything works without failures boinc sends 1 download request per second to the server, and currently boinc sends 1 download request every 3 seconds to the server. so for a single user the server is three times more stressed when everything is working than currently with a 10 second delay for the boinccmd command.
My GPU compute WUs as fast as I'm crushing bubble wrap.

OP - What would be great is the first post actually links to, or references to what solved the issues instead of merely saying "issue solved".
----------------------------------------Finding myself having to instead checking the rest of the thread anyway. Regarding the issue, for me it's still not solved and I've done the boinccmd several times, and no idea where that wcg "command" would be if it even exists, maybe I missed where it's referenced originally. Between this, this website going down repeatedly, it's getting a bit old. I started creating threads on the /worldcommunitygrid reddit to know how to troubleshoot this as obviously most of the time I have this issue, the site is down too, thus the forums (aka this thread) is/are unavailable. Using 2 linux installs and both whenever there is a reboot for linux updates, go through this same hassle. It's frustrating. ![]() |

As far as I`m using BOINC not only for fun but for testing PC's and Laptops as well, this issues with downloads are just wasting my time. Sadly, another BOINC covid project has a russian origin so I just need to go elsewhere. How many weeks or years needed to deal with issues like that? Just wanna pick a return date for myself )

but FOLDING is NOT a BOINC project.
That runs stand alone. I run that in addition to BOINC to load up my GPU (it can also do CPU or both if you want it to) The GPU projects are taking stuff from Baker Lab (the host of Rosetta, but these are not identified as Rosetta data) and running it in more detail. |

But...does anyone know why on here MCM GPU tasks keep jamming up in http transient errors? I run the whole day and come back to my computer and see 20 tasks "downloading" but trapped in transient error hell. Really getting old.

I have no confirmation on the subject but the 107 bytes downloaded before a download failed could only be the size of the error message corresponding to "connection unavailable" or "page not found"
