I had hoped that the reduction in available WU was their (WCG’s) method of reducing the work in progress to do a planned major overhaul of their network - as for a while there were no transfer problems. But that issue has returned!
Given the lack of any recent updates, I have absolutely no idea what is going on at WCG’s end. I am running DENIS on a couple of my systems without issues - but WCG on the same computer has file transfer issues. |

if you dont want to wait :
----------------------------------------the really dirty way is creating a crontask with "/usr/bin/boinccmd --network_available" every 10sec (no need to run it as root) ....... Works for me, THANKS ! What i did on Ubuntu 22.04: - start a Terminal $ sudo crontab -e - insert: 0,11,22,33,44,55 * * * * /usr/bin/boinccmd --network_available - Save and close the Editor $ service cron restart - start manually the download process --> and runs (for now) BTW: Did not work for me as "normal" user - but i tested maybe not enough :-P

If they just could crank up the network speed on their site, That would help lots.
----------------------------------------My download speed for GPUGRID is close to 135MBps while WCG speed never goes over 200KBps. Go figure...
Ubuntu 22.04.1 LTS [Linux 5.15.0-47-generic]
CPU: Intel Core i7-9700 @3.00GHz x 8 GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX2060 Rev. A plus a mighty Raspberry PI 4 |

Does Krembil ever read these forums? Do they care about their contributors? Do they ever post articles explaining issues ore are we just left to get on with it?
----------------------------------------Day 3 of a massive backlog of WUs that are just not downloading or showing any likelihood of doing so. Come on KREMBIL stop relentlessly ignoring your volunteers.

If I can take 5 minutes a day to look at the fora and craft a few lines, I would think somebody there could do likewise. Cheers

If they just could crank up the network speed on their site, That would help lots. They do not really have a "speed" issue, if I can get a connection, some of the larger files (most are actually <1KB in size!) come in with 6-8MB/sec (on a symetric 500MBit/sec Ethernet-on-premise connection)My download speed for GPUGRID is close to 135MBps while WCG speed never goes over 200KBps. Go figure... The main issue has been since they started sending out WUs in June to actually get a connection on the server side... Ralf |

Yep the problem is still here.
----------------------------------------For example with OPNG, they are computed as soon as they are downloaded. So when the download list is empty there is no WU waiting to be computed and it claim another bunch of WU to download.
My GPU compute WUs as fast as I'm crushing bubble wrap.

Cheers I am starting to think being a communications intern involves not so much communication, as knowing how not to communicate - saying things like 'I can't give an exact date on when it will be fixed, just that it will be worked on once the other issues have been solved.' Valid, but vapid. |
