I hope, we see WCG with all the projects running in 2023 again. Until then, I'll turn to other BOINC projects.

Maybe useless stats:
----------------------------------------According to BoincStats, only 712 WCG volunteers had any credits for the last day. That tells a lot about how little work that is sent out during this test period. So, the chance of getting any tasks at all, is slim to none, at the moment. Unless you have an entire computer farm of course. [Edit 4 times, last edit by Grumpy Swede at Aug 5, 2022 9:21:27 AM] |

As far as i can see new units are released only once a day. For me that is 13:26 UTC every day. So if your machine isn't running at that time all you will get is resends.
----------------------------------------At least that is what i noticed so far. I don't run 24/7 so maybe there is a second release time while i'm sleeping.... |

Correct, new work is only released once/day. I have had some machines running 24/7, with auto-requests every 10 minutes, and I've been getting new tasks only at around 14:30 my local time here in Sweden, which is now UTC+2 since it's DST still. On the WCG Results page for my tasks, new work always shows as having been coming in at around 12:30 UTC.
----------------------------------------Eventual resends can come in at any time though, of course. Edit: corrected spelling error. [Edit 4 times, last edit by Grumpy Swede at Aug 5, 2022 11:35:40 AM] |

Cyclops what is preventing World Community Grid from sending out more work units as i think a lot of us would like to know what is actually going on at World Community Grid. We'll likely send out more workunits now that we fixed a minor issue with the OPNG workunits which might be elaborated upon in a future forum post. Let's wait and see after the task release today, if any OPNG tasks are released. I have my doubts that the OPNG issue is really fixed. Edit: Added: I got 5 OPN1 tasks at 12:30:43 UTC, no OPNG tasks though. and there were terribly many "transient HTTP errors". It took lots of manual retry attempts before all files were finally downloaded. [Edit 1 times, last edit by Grumpy Swede at Aug 5, 2022 12:45:19 PM] |

After weeks of drought, I finally got 3 OPN1-tasks without manual intervention.
----------------------------------------Total http-errors during download the needed files: 9. I let BOINC figure out the retries itself. 05 Aug 14:39:50 Scheduler request completed: got 3 new tasks 05 Aug 14:43:20 Starting task OPN1_0109820_00877_0 05 Aug 14:47:30 Starting task OPN1_0109813_02185_0 05 Aug 14:51:34 Starting task OPN1_0109813_01356_0 |

Maybe useless stats: I have not gotten any test WU for at least two weeks now. And no, I do not want to mess with how often a host is checking just to get some.According to BoincStats, only 712 WCG volunteers had any credits for the last day. That tells a lot about how little work that is sent out during this test period. So, the chance of getting any tasks at all, is slim to none, at the moment. Unless you have an entire computer farm of course. Much more interested in knowing what is holding up WCG getting back to "general availability", as it seems for at least a month, there has been no visible advance on the BOINC part... Ralf |

My guess Ralf -
The OPNG error that Cyclops wrote about being fixed. Is either fixed and we will see OPNG soon, or they ran into the next roadblock and are working on that to get OPNG working. Downloading issues- there are still download issues. they need to work on that. hard to say if it is a software, hardware, or internet issue. |

Well, the OPNG issue was reported by WCG in their July 2022 Tech Team Update. Published on: 13 Jul 2022. So if it is that issue Cyclops means that they have fixed now, it certainly took a long time.
----------------------------------------Excerpt from that update: "We are also working to fix a blocking issue with the GPU workunits for Open Pandemics. Once this is resolved, we should be able to increase the quantity of workunits we can send out to volunteers." It's quite clear by now, that IBM dumped something not fit for a "simple" migration, on Krembil/Jurisica Lab, and then ran at full speed for the nearest door.
