Re: OpenPandemics GPU Beta Test - Feb 18 2021 [Issues Thread]

We are doing some fine tuning of the validation and work unit build script over the next day or so. We will probably run another beta with larger work units only but still 100 batches since they go quickly.

Thanks again for all the help!

Re: OpenPandemics GPU Beta Test - Feb 18 2021 [Issues Thread]

All 80 WUs which were processed by my machines ended up being valid smile .

These are the GFX cards the WUs ran on:
NVidia Quattro P600 (WinX)
NVidia GT-740 (Ubuntu 18.04)
NVidia GTX-1660S (WinX)

All except the GT-740 managed to process the WUs rather quickly in 0.01 to 0.13 hours. While the GT-740 had some WUs that finished in under 0.13 hours, there were also 5 units it spend 1.48 to 1.87 hours.
I know that the GT-740 is a rather slow card, but it is the only card to finish some WUs rather quickly, and others quite slowly.

Those were the ones taking rather long: shock
BETA_OPN1_0020027_00015_1 1.81 / 1.87
BETA_OPN1_0020014_00052_1 1.78 / 1.83
BETA_OPN1_0020050_00224_0 1.63 / 1.66
BETA_OPN1_0020012_00143_1 1.52 / 1.57
BETA_OPN1_0020017_00308_1 1.48 / 1.52

Re: OpenPandemics GPU Beta Test - Feb 18 2021 [Issues Thread]

Andrew80431,

The first few BETAs were very short ones, running mere seconds at times while the later BETAs were much larger. You can expect these longer runtimes on the next work units.

Do note that although they are taking 1.5-1.9 hours on your card, 1 GPU work unit is equivalent to several CPU work units.

An OPN CPU work unit usually has 2 different molecules being tested while the GPU work units have anywhere from 26 to 52 molecules (those are the numbers I saw, there may be higher numbers of molecules on some work units).

On My Ryzen 1400, 1 OPN CPU takes around 3 hours while 1 GPU work unit took between 25-40 minutes on the BETA. Higher end GPU's do 1 task in 3 minutes or so.

Re: OpenPandemics GPU Beta Test - Feb 18 2021 [Issues Thread]

And the GPU doesn't be all that high-end to get good results. I was averaging under 4 minutes on my GTX 1650 Super.

But I got mine last October for $200. delivered in the U.S. You don't want to know what the price is now.

3 ran successfully on an RX 570, from 1.5-3 minutes a piece.

It's getting a bit cold here in my apartment, so I would appreciate some WU's to heat up my GPU..... smile

Re: OpenPandemics GPU Beta Test - Feb 18 2021 [Issues Thread]

I missed this bunch again. Oh damn...
This time it was the max. task per project defined in the device profile settings that probably was preventing me from getting some. I'll wait for the official rollout.

What are your experiences with performance so far? What cards are you running and what are average runtimes?

Thx
