Let us know. Thank you Jim, but I'm making a recommendation to the WCG team, not seeking technical support. What matters is system throughput, not which unit my particular system is assigned. If I opt out of a OPN CPU task, somebody else will get it. If all GPU friendly batches are reserved for GPUs, we'll complete the other projects much quicker and improve OpenPandemics turnaround time from proposal to result. The beta's availability is too intermittent to test in practice. That said, as long as "If no work is available for my selections, send me anything" is checked, turning off OpenPandemics should eventually result in a steady supply of efficient work to both processors. |

Thank you for this beta! I am happy
----------------------------------------I already trying the open pandemic beta with my ati gpu! Can you also support Mali-GPU? (Android GPU) that will be great!! Just pointing out that if that were done, then linux arm would have no wcg tasks to run as OPN is currently the only wcg project that supports linux arm. system requirements |

That could be a political issue on what hardware they want to support, but I am all in favor of getting it done more quickly too. It appears that the GPUs are more energy-efficient too, which is not the case on all GPU projects. Some are worse. |

I just averaged 24 of the new longer betas on my GTX 1650 Super under Win10 Pro (supported by two cores of a Ryzen 3600). They took 3 minutes 50 seconds.
----------------------------------------I have one other GTX 1650 Super on an Ubuntu 20.04 machine, but it has not received any betas yet. It could be that the settings are not straightened out on the WCG side yet; it is in a different profile. I am getting work on the profile where "Use my NVIDIA graphics card if possible:" is set to NO, but not on the profile where it is set to YES. (I am not changing anything as per uplinger's request until they have a chance to look into it. I did not set either one myself; that is the way the came in when WCG set it up.) Haven't received any WUs for almost 3 hours on 3 PCs, maybe there isn't any at the moment?

Haven't received any WUs for almost 3 hours on 3 PCs, maybe there isn't any at the moment? Probably ran out hours ago. Uplinger said they'd be gone in 30 minutes. I have looked at the processing of the beta work units with Task Manager and Process Explorer. The PC is a Ryzen 5 3600 with a GT1030 GPU. The work units are specified as needing 0.634 of a CPU plus 1 Nvidia GPU.
Process Explorer shows that the CPU part of the work unit runs with a Windows priority of 6. A CPU only work unit runs with a priority of 4 and normal windows task with a priority of 8. The CPU part used 100% of a thread while the GPU percentage jumped between low values and 100%. The work units ran in between 10 and 20 minutes with most taking about 15 minutes. I also attempted a pseudo restart by setting LAIM off; suspending the work unit allowing another to start; resuming the work unit. They both appeared to complete normally but are still in pending valuation. One odd thing I noticed for the restart on job 61 of 61, is that I suspended the work unit with CPU used of 18min 03sec but results status shows 0.6 hours or 36min . I did not see it running after the restart as it was so quick. The results status file shows it did restart in job 61. |

I am getting work on the profile where "Use my NVIDIA graphics card if possible:" is set to NO, but not on the profile where it is set to YES. (I am not changing anything as per uplinger's request until they have a chance to look into it. I did not set either one myself; that is the way the came in when WCG set it up.) I have one profile that is separate from all the others, and is used only on a Ryzen 3700X machine with a GTX 1060 (Ubuntu 20.04.1). I thought it would be safe enough to play around with that without disturbing the others. I finally came up with setting all the graphics card options to YES (Nvidia, AMD and Intel). That at least allows me to request GPU work though none is available at the moment. Ryzen3700X Any other combination that I tried does not even request GPU work. So that may be why Uplinger had not seen the problem. He had set them all to YES from the beginning. I will still leave the problem profile (where the Ryzen 3950X's with the GTX 1070 and RTX 2060 are) alone; they are requesting work anyway, even though Nvidia is set to NO. Probably just a few settings need to be toggled. |
