Maybe I am missing something. I can see where to select to *also* run on GPU, in addition to CPU, for example "Use my NVIDIA graphics card if possible". But I see no way to "runs only on GPU". What am I missing? I couldn't find that for a long time, either. |

Hi Richard!
Thanks for adding the screen shot. Also, I'm about to release about 5000 work units (2 copies of each) in few minutes. These are going to be the larger workunits which on average ran about 15 minutes each. This is part of a larger amount of work units going to be released over the next couple of hours. That is going to be about 22k work units in total. The batch numbers for these are: 20010 - 20099. Thanks, -Uplinger |

A few things to note.
1. This has a potential fix for the older cards with opencl < 1.2 getting work. This should prevent that from happening. 2. These are production batches that we ran on the grid before. These batches are taking about 8 days total elapsed time to run on GPU. A single batch usually takes about 5 years on CPU. 3. This is not the final form of the application, we are sending back the dlg file and it will be stripped in the future, similar to what we did with cpu version last year. 4. The application has some additional minor tweaks needed so more betas will be coming. Thanks again for your help, -Uplinger |

Got 2 new BETAs on my RX 550.
----------------------------------------After almost 10 minutes and 23% done, it says there are 36 minutes left. It's a slow GPU so it sounds about right. I have a question: Are there any WUs for Linux and Intel GPUs? I got none on my linux-machine. The tasks running on my GTX 1650 Super, 1660 Super and 1660 Ti are finishing quickly, but this one on my old laptop with a Radeon 7470M is struggling. The remaining estimate climbed to over 13 hours but has now fallen back to a mere seven hours and is climbing again.

Umlauf,
----------------------------------------New work has just been released and per the opening post of the BETA, there is work available for Linux and Intel. With 94 GFLOPS, don't expect any miracles though. One of the tasks I'm running right now is set to take 40 minutes to complete with my RX 550 and 1232 GFLOPS per BOINC. Your tasks will take many hours. I have a tablet with an Intel Z3740 CPU and integrated Intel GPU, 341 GFLOPS and OpenCL 1.2, but it gets no GPU work because it's under 32-bit Windows 10. Is your Linux 32-bit or 64-bit? There is only work for 64-bit OS. AMD Ryzen 5 1600AF 6C/12T 3.2 GHz - 85W AMD Ryzen 5 2500U 4C/8T 2.0 GHz - 28W AMD Ryzen 7 7730U 8C/16T 3.0 GHz |

Near the top of the device profile, you should see a Processor section with this question: "Allow research to run on my CPU?" But that seems to apply to all the WCG projects, unless I am missing something. Perhaps it really means "Do not run projects on the CPU that can be run on the GPU", as suggested above. We need something to allow us to run OPN only on the GPU, while still allowing us to run the other WCG projects on the CPU. |
