ARP is different in that 2 results do have to match as per normal projects but they also have to match the actual weather that occurred. Otherwise the next iteration (generation) would get further out. Mike |

I now have the M4 chip, and it could be if I'm partnered up with another M4 chip or not. I suspect that there may be subtle differences in the way rounding decisions are taken by the various different floating point units. That may or may not cause results to deviate by enough to fail validation.[*1] So it might well have something to do with which processor is in use.Unfortunately, that's exactly the sort of diagnostic detail that we can only get if all the users affected by a particular problem happen to post about it; sadly, not likely to happen... Cheers - Al. P.S. Glad yours validated! :-) *1 At MilkyWay@home there would often be validation issues with tasks that had been working with very small values -- not all GPUs (or CPUs) deal with near-zero values in the same way, and problems ensued :-) |

I'm getting excited for the new generation of ARP. When will we get to do the first 146 gen, that flips over into a new 147?
----------------------------------------I'm guessing that we are over 80% through 145 ?? [Edit 1 times, last edit by Unixchick at May 28, 2025 6:53:33 PM] |

Yes, Unixchick, from hour to hour you can follow where we are in the latest generation by taking a quick peek at My current tasks. According to this, my latest task is ARP1_0030599_145_0, so cell 30599 from generation 145 has been released a short while ago, that is 85% into its generation.
----------------------------------------In 36 hours, i.e. 09:00 UTC on 30 May 2025, if everything goes well[*1], we will probably reach cell 35609 (or 35608 if you start at 00000) at the current distribution speed of ARP1. Adri EDIT: [*1] It looks like the distribution has stopped momentarily, since I haven't gotten any new ARP1-tasks after 21:00 UTC on Wednesday 28 May during the past three hours and that's a sign on the wall. EDIT: Around 05:00 UTC on Thursday 29 May the flow of ARP1 recommenced. [Edit 2 times, last edit by adriverhoef at May 29, 2025 6:31:10 AM] |

I agree Adri, the reference number I have for ARP is decreasing. Someone needs to kick the ARP generator.
----------------------------------------For reference what is your ARP WU current task number when ARP is flowing? 50?? edit: I just got a fresh ARP. good luck. [Edit 1 times, last edit by Unixchick at May 29, 2025 5:29:39 AM] |

A ARP WU to watch. I hope this one shows up again.

A ARP WU to watch. I hope this one shows up again. A few hours later:https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/contribution/workunit/716785252 Result name OS type Status Sent time Due / Return time CPUtime/Elapsed Claimed/Granted Your question, Unixchick: "what is your ARP WU current task number when ARP is flowing? 50?" It depends; 50 looks good, and it should be, however the number doesn't tell you that one device is limping along at the moment, or two if you count the Intel i7-8700, while two devices are almost stuffed to their necks. So, numbers can be deceiving. Adri |

Expect 146s late Friday. That should reclassify the normal definition.
