Re: Climate change projects

... and there are those who think that so much fossil fuel will be burnt generating electricity to run the computers to perform the climate simulations that global warming will be significantly increased, so the calculations will have to be run all over again ...

Not my machine. It draws only 158 watts, 198 VA. And it comes from the Oyster Creek nuclear waste generation plant about 50 miles from here. Clean, safe, non-polluting nuclear energy: too cheap to meter. About $0.15 per kilowatt-hour around here, including all the fees, surcharges, ... JCP&L will never make enough profit to pay for the cost of perpetual storage of the nuclear waste produced, so economically the plant is a disaster even were there never any leaks, releases, melt-downs, ...

Actually, the Oyster Creek reactor is the same GE design as the reactors at Fukushima that are leaking 300 tons of radioactive water into the Pacific Ocean EVERY SINGLE DAY. And the Oyster Creek one is even older than those at Fukushima.

And there are those who think the earth is flat.

EXAMPLES Collected via e-mail, August 2013. Japan's nuclear watchdog has now declared the leak of radioactive water from Fukushima a "state of emergency.". Each day, 300 tons of radioactive water seeps into the ocean, and it's now clear that TEPCO has engage in a two-and-a-half-year cover-up of immense magnitude.

JCP&L will never make enough profit to pay for the cost of perpetual storage of the nuclear waste produced, so economically the plant is a disaster even were there never any leaks, releases, melt-downs, .

According to the Wikipedia article on Oyster Creek, there were two small leaks of Tritium in August of 2009. The plant was shutdown September 17, 2018. It had been owned by Excelon, which sold it to Holtec International for decommissioning.
Not my machine. It draws only 158 watts, 198 VA. And it comes from the Oyster Creek nuclear waste generation plant about 50 miles from here.

Since the plant has been shut down, it seems implausible you are getting your electricity from the Oyster Creek plant.

OT -- I don't like using Wikipedia as a reference. However, the NRC says the same thing (about the reactor being shut down): https://www.nrc.gov/info-finder/reactors/oc-lc.html

Re: Climate change projects

To return to the original question, what is the outlook for "Rainfall in Africa"? Will it be announced when ready or just appear in the choices? Will we have to look in the "climate studies" tab?

and there are those that think that mining crypto will warm the planet so much it will burst into flames so why bother modeling the climate????

Re: Climate change projects

Are you sure that climate projects are not a mirage? They have been joining them for so long without materializing ... Just like the sarcoma units in MCM ... They create expectation for nothing!

Re: Climate change projects

They sure sound real to me. Listen to what the boss Juan Hindo has to say about the climate projects at the 2019 BOINC Workshop.
