Re: climate change projects

They did say Android would NOT be available for the first one

Good. It probably means that they have some significant memory requirements. The ones now are so low that I reduced the memory on my Ryzen 1700 and 2700 from 32 GB to 8 GB each, and still have memory left over.

I could probably run it in 4 GB if I really wanted to; that is too low for 16 cores.

Re: climate change projects

It is also known that everyone with a SNURK signature is gonna go down 2 notches because (n+0)/(n+1) = Smaller Average :P

Re: climate change projects

Indeed~ The SNURK signatures will really be affected. Will be curious to see how many sigs change.

SNURK's Years per Project is a ludicrous figure of merit. Extreme bias to those that started at WCG early and massive penalty for those that started recently. It serves to discourage newcomers instead of welcoming them.

Re: climate change projects

I understood that Snurk had a mechanism that, while reducing runtime per project, does NOT cuase globe colours to drop when a new project is introduced.

Years per Project has nothing to do with when you started. It's just total runtime divided by 29. not talking

Re: climate change projects

Hey Snurk,

Love your signatures!

Suggestion: a stat that would be total runtime divided by the number of projects worked on. That would be similar to the globe, but more representative of work people were actually able to accomplish. Maybe make that a globe option?

But maybe that might actually be fair? 10-15 years ago most machines were only single core. Fast forward to today, even my $200 smartphone has 8 cores. If back in that era you could clock a lot of CPU years, you really do deserve a boost to your stats.

Aurum,
I completely disagree with your statement.
Based on your "theory", I should be discouraged since you started nearly 11 years after me and you have already a higher year/project ranking than me !
Whatever the used rational for calculating a figure is, some people would consider it as demotivating during other people would see some encouragement.

@snurk: thank you for your reporting added value; I like it smile

Cheers,
Yves
