Overnight I got 8 HST units. I suspended everything else and started all 8 of them and re-enabled everything else. All 8 threads are occupied with HST. They are running on a 2600K with 8gb of memory on Linux Mint. They all indicated 19 hours and 11 minutes of runtime. after the first ten minutes of runtime, they all appear to be running normally. I will let everyone know how the progress is going.

a few dripped in during the day; but I might need to give my hope on the 5-year-diamond :-(

The results are in. All eight of the HST units finished with no problems. The cpu times were from 22:43 to 22:55 hours. This is a little bit longer than the initial estimates of 19 hours when they started. I sympathize with Aurum420, but don't think the problem is malformed HST units. If that were the case, others surely would have gotten some and would have noticed the outlandish projected run times. I think I would look at a possible hardware issue, specifically a bottleneck issue with the hardware. One way to check this would be to suspend all but one of the HST units and see if the condition persisted. Another way would be to limit the number of HST units running at one time to one and gradually increase that number until the condition recurred. I am speculating that some resource was being maxed out and this caused the computer to be churning without really getting any significant work being accomplished, even though the cpus were running at 100%. Good luck.

Something is wrong with the HST configuration. Seriously, they started off as Remaining = 854 days. It makes them all run High Priority. I suspect it may interfere with proper allocation of WUs to clients. Since WCG forum will not allow me to post a photo here I put it on The Tweeter. Whoa, just looked again and the next ones started at Remaining = 1,654 days!!! ![]() Some of the tasks have a runtime of 4d+ and only at 6%. That's a PC issue. BM is estimating correctly based on that. Something is throttling the work from being completed. ![]() |

I'm still getting an HST WU every few days. They've been taking 8 to 9 hours of CPU time, around 13-14 hours elapsed time. There's one in my queue now with estimated time 15:19:08. I've seen nothing unusual so far, but will report if something strange happens.

Well I'm getting more work units after the tip on how to get more work on the previous page....
----------------------------------------![]() I'm seeing workunits with projected times of 19 hours on one machine and 10 hours on the other. These seem to be fairly accurate based on actual CPU time. The difference in projected times is purely down to a difference in processor speeds. ![]() |

I was running 32 concurrent HST WUs on one machine and had 256 running across ALL machines. All completed normally with no exceptions. Currently have sporadic HST WUs running across the farm and these are completing normally also

For the past week I have been getting 8+ WU/day. It is fortuitous that my two slower computers have caught them 19-22hrs/WU. Only 42 days to my emerald. Fingers Crossed that this spurt of 7000WU/day last out to the end of the month.
