Re: Is anybody still getting work?

Help Stop TB Project Statistics (from https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/stat/viewProject.do?projectShortName=hst1)
Statistics Last Updated: 2/27/19 12:06:02 (UTC) [2 hour(s) ago]
Totals:
Run Time (y:d:h:m:s) 4699:227:12:57:08
Points Generated 7,422,954,608
Results Returned 3,765,658
Averages:
Run Time Per Calendar Day (y:d:h:m:s) 4:141:15:29:48
Run Time Per Result (y:d:h:m:s) 0:000:10:55:58
Points Per Hour of Run Time 180.31
Points Per Calendar Day 6,930,863.31
Points Per Result 1,971.22
Results Per Calendar Day 3,516.02
Yesterday:
Run Time (y:d:h:m:s) - Day 17:071:16:14:57
Points Generated - Day 26,054,274
Results Returned - Day 9,107

So yesterday was several times more plentiful than the long term average. OK, so maybe the WUs are not coming in a regular stream, but they are clearly coming. If you're really keen to get some, select it as your only WCG project and don't select the option to have work from other projects if there are none from your selection. You can always build a buffer of other work first if you're worried that your machine will run dry while it waits.

Re: Is anybody still getting work?

that's my usual mode of operation, but is not working for me on this project.

Re: Is anybody still getting work?

Then all I can suggest is that either the other project(s) that you run should have short WUs, so that your machine asks for work fairly often, or that you look elsewhere in the forums to help you to automatic work request much more frequently (e.g. using cron in Linux).

Re: Is anybody still getting work?

I've had enough HSTB work units to fill the queues for 10 cores since some time in January 2019, running 24/7. Never a single issue or day goes by where I don't receive a couple dozen new work units to keep the queue topped off. It's beautiful, since I haven't had to "babysit" HSTB at all in 2019 ever since the project "dams" were opened.

Yes but people are wondering about the here and now. As these WUs run quite long, the stats are a bit delayed as they are showing what comes back, not what goes out to crunchers. They got 20 years of run time for 3 days in a row, then 19, 17, and 14. Looking at the batch numbers it looks like less work is going out, but it's still coming. I'm topping off my machines with other work as I don't have enough HST to run them at 100%. I'm hoping they daily pop out a few thousand more WUs like they did roughly a week ago.

Edit: I'm also thinking more people are adding the project to their machines, which means the supply is getting spread more thin.

Re: Is anybody still getting work?

??? This morning I got done crunching two large 27hrs HSTB. After I reported them I was pleasantly surprised to get three T400 WUs. These were my first in five days. Does the HSTB "Tasker" release WU's to crunchers that have completed HSTB work?

Re: Is anybody still getting work?

Nope, they get issued on a first come first served basis. You were just in the right place at the right time.

TY. Widdeshins I recognized your handle. 2 years ago I looked it up but forgot what I found. Great word. For other peoples information.

Re: Is anybody still getting work?

Is there any way to get the client to connect to the server to ask for work more often? Mine only seems to go looking every 2-3 hours even though my cache is low. My cache set to 4 days work / unlimited work for HSTB / 2 items each for other projects to keep CPUs busy when no HSTB....

any tips for forcing it to hunt for work more often in the hope of catching more HSTB work units?
