Is there any way to get the client to connect to the server to ask for work more often? Mine only seems to go looking every 2-3 hours even though my cache is low. My cache set to 4 days work / unlimited work for HSTB / 2 items each for other projects to keep CPUs busy when no HSTB.... any tips for forcing it to hunt for work more often in the hope of catching more HSTB work units? Yep ... |

Something is wrong with the HST configuration. Seriously, they started off as Remaining = 854 days. It makes them all run High Priority. I suspect it may interfere with proper allocation of WUs to clients. Since WCG forum will not allow me to post a photo here I put it on The Tweeter.

I'm not seeing such extreme run-times in any of the units I have, whether in progress or waiting to run. Did you log in to any of the individual machines to check your boinc manager isn't giving duff info?

Whoa, just looked again and the next ones started at Remaining = 1,654 days!!! Just a suggestion here: Reboot the machine and see if your system returns to more normal operation. Cheers

Sgt joe is spot on. every once in awhile my windows machines does that “phantom” long runtime. All projects not just HSTb. % completions is consistent after reboot.

A t325 squeaked through when I was topping up an empty machine with Zika. Timing appears to be everything. Hopefully, these games will go on for another 2 months to me get to emerald.

Rebooting these Linux rigs made it worse. Apparently there are no checkpoints and all WUs restarted from the beginning. Time remaining is still huge.

Is it possible that the units have restarted, retaining the elapsed time? That can generate high remainders as has happened to me.

I opted out of HST once I got my sapphire, but I will re-implement on one of my Linux rigs to see if I can re-create the problem, provided I can get any units.
