Howdy,
I know that credit is a key component to monitoring systems. We are monitoring it. The system should adjust automatically as more of the larger results start to come back. Credit gets compared against the PFC value that is calculated and determines if a value too high is awarded. I have been seeing the pfc value increase over the weekend which will help decrease the number of members getting low credit. Thanks, -Uplinger |

Uplinger,
----------------------------------------Thanks for looking into this issue. I am one of those people who don't care all that much for the points, but sometime if they are out of whack, it could be a symptom of another more serious issue. The points are another metric to help gauge the efficacy of the system. This applies not only to an individual machine, but may also apply to the system as a whole. Good luck with the analysis. Cheers
Sgt. Joe

You do have a point Bugg, it is not just about getting points.
In my case I would say it turned into a "hobby" over time. However, I would also state that this is not a thing of our own making. It is something like a mutual agreement between "us" and "them". I am sure the badges were put in place to get us fired up about these projects and donate computer time. So, at the end of the day it is a win-win for everyone. I am happy to have been here almost ten years now, but I really want the points to get the twenty-year badge for OET before it closes out! :) (And TPCBF, I feel your pain! Those stuck WUs are a serious pain in my back end when I have not checked a computer in a while and I see them there. I only have three computers at the house, but two are running without monitors. I only "remote" into them when I think there is a problem. My first indication is always that my points are dropping through the floor.) |

The points may be slowly creeping up but I wish the estimated time to complete would also correct itself!
I have a small buffer on one of my machines, supposed to be enough for half a day, but it is filling with OET OM jobs which have a short estimate of runtime but in fact I probably had about a weeks worth of work. I just had to abort a bundle of these OET OM WU as they were due in about 12 hours when there was absolutely no chance of them getting done (they were already repair jobs so I had a shorted time to complete) and then BOINC immediately downloads another batch of these, all with 1.32 hours estimate and all of them repair jobs so a reduced deadline. It would be nice if the estimated runtime (yes I know it is an estimate, but its nowhere even close) was more accurate so machines don't get swamped with work they can never complete in time. |

Even with an only 2 day cache, at least two hosts will not be able to return all the allocated WUs timely.
----------------------------------------Moving from about 1 hour average runtime to about 7 hours runtime created a huge discrepancy regarding the requested work amount. WCG will have a lot of WUs to resend. Happy crunching, Yves --- PS: On my side, with 6 hosts, I currently notice a ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by KerSamson at Apr 7, 2018 1:23:07 PM] |

I would suggest, if possible, to extend the deadline for the WUs distributed between March 28th and 30th: about 3 days would be probably sufficient for avoiding a redistribution which will delay again the result delivery.
----------------------------------------Additionally, it will avoid to cause that these WUs will be computed twice: once with a "too late" return and a second time by the new wingman. Cheers, Yves |

Cheers, Yves Agreed but I don't see them implementing this so I've just aborted around 40 tasks as I would have never made the deadline. |
