Re: Starting OET1 "OM" type workunits

CPU time since Checkpoint can be thirty minutes or longer on a modern CPU (Ryzen 1700x, Ubuntu 17.10).

It took more than one hour for the first checkpoint on my Windows computer.

Re: Starting OET1 "OM" type workunits

Yet again, CreditNew shows its strength.. While most of my hosts have adjusted the credit claimed according to the much longer run times, one of them (Threadripper) claims just slightly more than for short units (56 points for 1.6h of previous units, 73 points for 9 hours of -OM).

Re: Starting OET1 "OM" type workunits

Is the approximate end date still around July?

I would like to try and get 5 years on this project but also want to achieve 5 years on FAAH2 so its going to be a balancing act between the 2 projects for me.

Today, WCG shows 2nd of Aug...don't know if it has calculated the slower WUs already, as in last ECD here it reported 18th July.

But even with old ECD of 18th July, you can calc up that the slowdown of:
- 25% in WU times will give you ECD on 15th of Aug
- 50% in WU times will give you ECD on 12th of Sep
In this, there has not been calculated:
- slowdown 'cause of HEAT
- slowdown 'cause of vacations
So at least some 15-30 days can be added to those days mentioned above.
cool

Re: Starting OET1 "OM" type workunits

Time to complete a typical OET work unit is now ~8hrs rather than ~1.5hrs on an older intel i7.

What is everyone else experiencing?

EDIT:
Spoke too soon, seems to take longer; will have to wait until one completes.

Finally picking these up on all my rigs. One rig has completed six which averaged 8.82 hours across the workunits (AMD Phenom II X4 965 overclocked to 3.8 GHz, 8GB RAM). The other rigs are still churning through their first passes at these bigger units.

Timing is a little off for me -- I will very shortly be switching to warm weather schedule: overclocks reset to stock, and all but my Xeon workhorse off during daylight hours (and warm nights). Plus 20 days between now and autumn that I will be away, and they will all be "resting."

I'll be hitting 10 years on OET sometime this weekend, and will be switching 22 cores to another WCG project, likely MCM. So there's a few workunits per day that others can use to chase badges.

Re: Starting OET1 "OM" type workunits

How long will the "OM" Work Units be distributed? My run time is about 20 hours on 105 processors, and my productivity (compared to other work units and projects) decreased tremendously. It is still good to know that the 'hard work' is getting done, despite the decreased numbers.

Re: Starting OET1 "OM" type workunits

I have had several of the OET units run about 8 hours on a I7 2600K. Now I have several which are at 30% at 9 hours. These must be some really big ones. We will see how long they take in the morning.
Cheers

I see identical situation on my side. These "OM" WUs showing around 17000 GFLOPs as non "OM" ones.

To the end. This is kinda last units to be processed

HOw do you measure this "productivity"?
It is only logical that there is "a gap" as far as returned amounts of runtime and points goes, as there is a lack of countable WUs during the initial switch from the shorter to the longer runtime WUs. This might be at least two update cycles.
For me, it seems that both runtime and points are going back up, possible above the level that it was before the switch to the longer running batches...
