We had a call with the principal investigator today. Here are the highlights.
1. University of Nottingham is doing some work on their network around June 26, which could result in a few days of delay in sending/receiving work on the project. We'll provide more information and make an announcement if this happens. 2. She recently met with a researcher in France who is interested in using their data. This is still in the discussion stage right now. 3. They continue to look for students for their team, but as mentioned previously PhD student applications to their university are down by roughly 75 percent this year. |

We had a quick call with the principal investigator today. No updates, as much of the research team is on break. They're continuing to produce work units regularly, and reviewing results as they can until they're able to hire more students.
Our next call with this group will be in September, so there will not be an August update. |

We had a quick call with Christof Jaeger from the research team today. (Anna Croft is traveling this week and wasn't able to make it.)
1. We discussed the number and pace of work units for the project. These will be remaining the same for now, as they have a very small team until they're able to recruit more team members. 2. The WCG team was recently approached by a researcher who is interested in learning about how the HSTB team uses Gromacs (the software they've chosen for their data analysis). We're putting the researcher in touch with the Nottingham team via email. The team will be building additional work units soon. In the meantime, here's the current status of work units as of today. In Progress: 66 batches (6,600 work units) Completed: 22,373 batches- 166 in the last 30 days, an average of 5.5 per day |

We just wrapped up our monthly call with the HSTB research team.
1. The WCG tech team discussed other uses of Gromacs (the software the researchers are using for the project) with the scientists and got their opinions on how Gromacs might possibly be used for other volunteer computing projects. (We don't have any such projects in the works, we've just had questions from other scientists in the past.) 2. We also discussed their ongoing search for another team member, which is made difficult by the fact that applications for PhD and postdoc positions are down by ~75 percent. We hope there will soon be some good news! Status of work units as of October 9: In Progress: 62 batches (6,200 work units) Completed: 22,503 batches - 139 in the last 30 days - an average of 4.6 per day |
