That was a tricky one!
I’ve definitely worked out the magic word wink and I think I may have worked out the full solution.

I'd just like to second Mark's post -- tricky, fun, solved and I know what the extra letter should be (and why!)

I'm a bit late with my thanks because once I'd solved it I headed off for some sleep and woke up 12 hours later! -- I think there might be some cause and effect there :-)

Once again, I found it easier to work on it once I'd picked a digit for each letter -- part of that is (I suspect) because I have some problems with combinations of letters that don't make words!!! Despite which, I still had to start again twice because one of my "certainties" wasn't (because I'd incorrectly noted the "pencil marks" for possible values)

But I got there in the end, and that's what makes it fun...

Spoiler, step 2:
There is a U at H4V8, so a U must be put in H5(left), and in H6(centre) ⇒
U at H6V4, as it can't be put at V5: that would mean next step U at H3V4,
which would mean next step U at H2V3 and that makes it impossible to put
any U on the diagonal; U can't be put at H6V5, then it must be at H6V4.

On the diagonal "/" there still has to be put an O.  The bottom left and
