Re: No new work from FightAIDS@HOME Phase 2

It has been almost a month since last update. Any Idea when more WU will be sent out?

Re: No new work from FightAIDS@HOME Phase 2

I just filled one of my machines with FA@H2 right after the server migration and 11k WUs were returned yesterday, so it looks like there are a fair amount of FA@H2 WUs available. Are you not getting work to crunch?

I have also received work since the server migration. It was discussed with Keith Uplinger here:

Let me clarify my question I have been also able to get 5-10 WU's. If you look at FAH2 daily stats (Shown below ) there are not 200-500K+ results returned like other "Really" active projects Ebola, FAH, Zika, MCM, SCC. After getting SCC Sapphire I wanted to press forward to Sapphire of FAH2, but the short supply of WU's indicate that is not warranted .

Re: No new work from FightAIDS@HOME Phase 2

The average run time per result is much longer for FAH2 than for all the other projects at the moment, so you'd be better off using the project's run time per day as a measure of supply. On that basis, the supply of FAH2 is looking ok - only MCM stands out as way higher. It's run time, not results, that contributes to badges, too. Go for it, I say biggrin

Re: No new work from FightAIDS@HOME Phase 2

Thanks Tony

My concern was keeping processors busy. Using Processing Time FAH2 for yesterday was only 17 years. The second lowest amount after HSTB. Now I see why there is long-standing desire to allow contributors to specify project priorities. I guess I will monitor that my processors have enough work and select FAH WU as needed.

Re: No new work from FightAIDS@HOME Phase 2

I suspect yesterday was abnormal because of the later FAH2 startup after the IBM Cloud migration. The normal daily amount is around 34 years, and I see we are already up to 17 years at today's midday (UTC) stats. If you select just FAH2 and untick "If there is no work available for the project(s) I have selected above, please send me work from another project", does that soon fill up say a 1 day cache with FAH2? If so, you'll keep your cores busy.

Re: No new work from FightAIDS@HOME Phase 2

For FAH2, I run a 1.5 day cache for those machines crunching it exclusively. This has kept the machines working through the daily WU dips.

erich56, although I've no 'insider knowledge', it's possible that the recent major outage, has had knock-on effects over the feedback mechanism (explained above, by armstrdj on Apr 26, 2017 4:45:59 PM).

I'm sure that thing's will slowly 'return to normal' over the next few days.
