@gb,
----------------------------------------Congrats! Too bad we can't send a private message to your wing-man. It would be intersting to see what BOINC says of his configuration. I have an old HP-Mini with a n Intel atom in a weird configuration. It couldn't run one of the WUs - but could run others. I read Intel specs on their different layouts until my head hurt. My hat is off to the code-buiders - that can create code for most of the CPU tyes. ![]() |

I am about to try this for the crontab file:
----------------------------------------#Mih Hr DOM Mo DOW Command 3,33 */2 * * * /home/jeandavid8/Downloads/WCGstopTB.sh This should try every other hour. I can then look at when I got work units, and then delete those hours that never get results, annoying the server less often. ![]() |

I did a similar effort:
----------------------------------------in each half hour , three times at three minute intervals.. That is how I found the times above. Then there is picking up aborted and timed out when that are 'recycled'. For me, it was fun to code.. Hope you enjoy as well. đ ![]() |

I knocked up a windows batch file to do an 'update request by user' which is really just a one liner and I have the 'Task Scheduler' running it on minute 3 and 33.
----------------------------------------start "HST" "C:\Program Files\BOINC\boinccmd.exe" --project http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org update Works a treat.

Has anybody made some cc_config or app_config for using HST in Win mode?!

I don´t know if i get this right, but the Scientists of HSTB do not need more (or are not able to create more) WUs to be crunched than they release.
----------------------------------------So all of your ways to get more WUs than other Crunchers do not help the Scientist - they just help you to get your Batches... For me this doesn´t seem to be fair. Because of this behavior the Batches loose their credibility. ![]() |

How do I know if getting three WUs some days is fair or not? I do not mind being fair, but when I ran boinc client without snatching some at the appropriate times, I went three months with NO work units at all. Even one a week, I might tolerate. Perhaps even one a month. But none?

So all of your ways to get more WUs than other Crunchers do not help the Scientist - they just help you to get your Batches... Not necessarily so - as those who are actively seeking out HST WU's (via whatever means), would be more likely to move those WU's to the front of their cache queue - and thus, get them crunched and returned quicker than those who don't.I'm not ashamed to say that "I'm currently in the hunt" for HST WU's (and, considering that yesterday, only 1,109 WU's were returned), I'm happy with the number that come my way. As soon as I reach my goal for this project (Sapphire - as with all my other projects at this time - Diamond is just so far away, and I've got plenty of work to do on other projects that I can't see this changing for quite some while), I'll pull out. Originally, when this project came out, I did think that "this could be the one" for my first Diamond badge (as I've got a cousin who's suffered with this disease and it also being a UK based project), but not any more. ![]() |
