Re: New Beta Test for PC - July 29, 2015 [ Issues Thread ]

All 12 Beta units completed and in PVal awaiting wingmen. CPU time ranged from 9.9 to 11.4 hours.

That's a nice extra 5 days to be added to the total Beta runtime smile

May I ask what hardware you have is completing this fast?

Of course you may, OldChap smile :
1x Intel Core i5-750 (mildly overclocked to 3.7GHz), Crucial 16GB PC3-12800 Ballistix Sport Low Profile, Windows 7;
1x Intel Core i7-4770K (overclocked to 4.4GHz), G.Skill 16GB DDR3 2400MHz TridentX, Windows 8.1.

Some Beta units finished in my hosts, around 26 hours, for some of them wingmen have also finished but the wu's are still "pending validation".

On my Magny-Cours 6176 WUs take ~36h. 6172's look to be right on ~40h mark.

I got 25 and looks like i'll make it to gold beta badge with them.

Also, as this is "issues" thread, no issues with them. ;)

Re: New Beta Test for PC - July 29, 2015 [ Issues Thread ]

My oldest cruncher snagged one and it ran for almost 32 hours. I didn't detect any problems and the WU is currently waiting for the wingman to report back. The Result Log looks OK: checkpointed every 1000 steps and sent a trickle message every 10th checkpoint.

Having run for over 24 hours reminds me of a past time when I was trying to understand a problem with a WU that also ran very long. The lack of dates in the timestamp made the log very ambiguous for the problem at that time. I would again recommend that the date be included. If space is a big concern, just using the ordial day of the year would be sufficient.

Cheers coffee

Also, from a stand point of this application running well, we have seen many successful results and very few errors which is great.

The error from my machine was not because of the beta, but because Microsoft in its infinite wisdom tried to install Windows 10, even though I did not ask it to. I have now excised it forever, and am ready for the next beta.

I am below will get some of these tasks to increase my badge. Since runtimes are a lot longer I am guessing the deadlines will be more than 10 days for production tasks?

Speculation, but doubt it since the design is all working towards the speediest batch completion.

Seems the buffer limit in newest [Windows 10 recognizing] client test version is still 10 days too... they're still debugging so don't go race fetching 7.6.6. One does not preclude the other though. You can have longer deadlines.

Hi.

I did a search and nothing came up, so what happens if there is no internet connection with these tasks running?

Re: New Beta Test for PC - July 29, 2015 [ Issues Thread ]

You mean trickles/progress uploads? They go sit it out in the "Transfers" tab and if not reported by deadline, new copy goes out.

If multiple trickles/uploads were sent and then connection goes off, new copy goes out after deadline but will start from your last reported step and add 100. There's interesting traffic management in all this [to include duplicate computed step reports], but principally, I think [je pense donc je suis] unless there's a complete No Reply, you'll never see a repair men copy being issued. Total zero redundancy was foretold.

Hm. They are all sitting in "Pending validation" with both me and wingman having returned the result...
