It appears to work in a very similar way to normal work units with an upload and then a report stage. With this beta it is a trickle upload followed by a trickle upload notification.

AVX is the workunit name from the researchers. Not instruction set. The work units should checkpoint ever 1%. It should be very regular with intermediate uploads and trickle messages coming back every 10% of the work unit. Thanks, -Uplinger Anti Virus Xmen...OH, MY GOD! We're making a vaccine against Wolverine, Storm & prof.X... p.s. Got 2 betas...still waiting 4 more! ;) ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by KLiK at Jul 30, 2015 8:59:29 AM] |

All 12 Beta units completed and in PVal awaiting wingmen. CPU time ranged from 9.9 to 11.4 hours.
That's a nice extra 5 days to be added to the total Beta runtime |

the goal is to have application like climateprediction.net ?? long work-units and step-results to be uploaded? That's -not- what was inferred... it's trickle what CPDN uses too and uplinger explained it being 100K steps with 10K block uploading of the intermediate progress. [know of no other project that does]. There's also partial crediting as you report progress [well it used to be when I was doing CPN], albeit here it will most likely be -after- the WU goes to server state 5, complete. BTW, we have it right now, not a goal anymore . Multiple beta's promised to get the whole cycle tested. If each compound requires 2 million steps in 100K blocks per WU, that's 20 WU results to be linked up. No idea how many of these 2 million step analyses have to be run, but somehow it does not feel like very many, or maybe there will be, to separate the chaff from the wheat. As much as it is advancement on HIV research, it's technical research project to WCG/IBM themselves too, which is great as then it's to Blue a form of benefit too. [see explanation by uplinger a dozen posts back in this thread]. [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Jul 30, 2015 10:36:56 AM] |

Dang, a post dropped in between while writing, so quote
----------------------------------------When is validation of WU's going to start? Oh boy, when all 2million steps are done... that's sequentially 20WU at say 15 hours average is 300 hours from yesterday... mid August But seriously, this being pegged as the first 'True' zero redundant, once switch on it will be a case of -never- having to wait on a wingman (MyCon has been dipping badly this morning... only returned a few CEP2 and OET1.) All that credit building up for mass release (Now here is an area where result fakers will be pointing their ears up... better get that validation seriously robust ) [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Jul 30, 2015 6:23:43 PM] |

I've finished 2 both on FX-8350.
