Re: Making stuff work with your own hands!

Nope, but I installed a 6x4TB Raid 10 NAS, balanced the dual GB port NIC connection, Installed the cloud interface, connected the USB printer to the NAS, migrated 2.5TB of data from the old NAS and remapped the drive connections. I'm not certain that I have the skills to operate a screwdriver. Glad someone can laughing

ps: if you missed my sarcasm, you won't understand my post. I wasn't looking for a pat on the back

Re: Making stuff work with your own hands!

Jake - I built something very similar to yours back in March.
Same case
Same mobo
AMD FX8370E (originally used OEM heatsink, upgraded a few weeks ago to the cooler master hyper tx3 and it dropped my CPU temps by ~35*)
16GB 1600MHz RAM
el cheapo video card as i dont do gaming and i have to deal with GPUs enough at work
500w 80+ Silver (If I remember correctly)
Samsung 850 EVO 250 SSD + WD Black 500GB 2.5" storage drive
I used several old 120mm fans that I had in a box in addition to the two 140s supplied with the case. They work well but arent the quietest in the world.

I just updated to Win10 and everything seems to be running smoothly. Very happy with the new setup.

Re: Making stuff work with your own hands!

I bought the video cards because they were less than $200 each and I figure if WCG ever starts a GPU project I'll be set. I have them working SETI@home to break them in. And I'm no gamer either.

That Cooler Master D92 is very good...someday I will figure out the temp difference...right now they run at 54 degrees C in a non-air conditioned house in the middle of a heatwave...so they seem to be working.

room temp = 80+F (?C)
temp at idle = 71F (26C)
temp all cores working 100% gpu 100% = 131F (55C)
