Just ran the numbers in Excel. Mapping Cancer Markers is already a larger project than all other completed projects combined except Human Proteome Folding Phase 2 and Help Conquer Cancer, and Help Fight Childhood Cancer. I lost my mother and grandmother to cancer. That said, are putting all our eggs in one basket? I understand correctly, this project has only published preliminary data. It's the LARGEST of all the cancer projects! But FAAH is still beating it, by a long margin! ![]() ECD will be done in 2 days... ![]() ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by KLiK at Jul 13, 2017 2:41:23 PM] |

KLiK, FAAH isn't a completed project. Didn't wanna get into comparing the validity of each current project or estimating their unknown durations. To me, two years from now I'd rather have six projects wrapped up than seven projects mostly done.
More importantly, wherever you got that ECD, the research page is now showing that we're only 55% finished. |

How's that different from MCM extending their run time? ![]() Don't get me wrong...I've been here a while, longer than you, so I've seen several projects getting new levels...several of them getting new extensions... Neither MCM or FAAH is wrapped up...both of them produced the data & research whitepapers...so don't, just because I also lost someone dear to me from cancer, disrespect one project over the other! ![]() Just saying that, 'cause you used the phrase "project than all other completed projects"...even phase1 of FAAH run longer than MCM now! ![]() |

If I understand correctly, the difference is that before FAAH's restart, peer reviewed papers have been published the VINA software's methodology. Whereas MCM has not reached that milestone.

Exactly, FAAH has produced several papers, from the research. While MCM, has not produced some paper from our results. That all according to News. ![]() |

That's how I feel as well, it's weird that the MCM crew is so quiet. Not even updating the timeline on their Project Page. Very strange.

Since I have recently learned the following information from WCG there is no calculable end date. However I will still attempt to track the progress as it occurs. A big thanks to the WCG staff for making this available. I have decided to leave the original quote in for the time being as it still addresses the question of additional work. In the recent past an additional estimate of 4000 more batches were added.
----------------------------------------Recently another estimated 5,000 batches were added to the project. We are not able to say the exact number of additional batches that will be added in the future, but we are fully expecting to receive more work units for the Mapping Cancer Markers project. The researchers will turn to other cancer-type work units when the current ones near completion. Last 30 day average results:590,072Percentage Complete:Currently listed on the Research page:55%. The average length of a WU is currently running about 4.14 hours, slightly shorter than the last time I posted, but continuing to trend steady at just less than the 4.20 hour mark consistently. The average length of a work unit this past week varied between 4.11 and 4.19 hours. This continues to be remarkably steady. Still have not seen any of the batches from 122278 to 122402. The ovarian units started with 122403 as the lowest number. My latest batch number was 134611 which would give about 206 batches for the week. The batch count for last week was 222. Production decreased this past week going from about 4.4 million WU's to 4.2 million WU's completed. During this past week the time devoted to MCM1 was just slightly over an average of 284 years per day, up somewhat from the past week's 228. Originally we had 17,500 batches plus 9000 more batches, plus 5000 more batches (all approximate) for a total of 31,500 batches. Now we have an estimated 4000 more batches for a total of 35,500 batches. Since the percentage complete was moved back to 55%, I am estimating an additional 27,500 additional batches have been added which would give a new total of 63,000 total batches. At 10,000 work units per batch, this would be 630,000,000 work units (double redundancy), so total of 1,260,000,000 work units. As of today(July 16) we have processed 691,306,853. This would be about 55% of the known work units. Based on the 30 day running average the current work units should last to about March, 2020. This not an end of project projection, just a projection of a probable end of the current (maybe) known work units. ![]() Cheers
Sgt. Joe

Thanks for such an excellent breakdown!
I wonder what I'll be crunching with in the year 2020. In 2000 it was a simple K62...and then the addiction began. |
