I have recently learned the following information from WCG and still believe there is no calculable end date. However I will still attempt to track the progress as it occurs. A big thanks to the WCG staff for making this available. I have decided to leave the original quote in for the time being as it still addresses the question of additional work. In the recent past an additional estimate of 4000 more batches were added.
----------------------------------------Recently another estimated 5,000 batches were added to the project. We are not able to say the exact number of additional batches that will be added in the future, but we are fully expecting to receive more work units for the Mapping Cancer Markers project. The researchers will turn to other cancer-type work units when the current ones near completion. Last 30 day average results:584,569 Percentage Complete:Currently listed on the Research page:57%. For a while it had bounced up to 56%, but I see it regressed to 55%. Then it has jumped to 57%, which means I am scaling back my estimate to 1.26 billion work units. The average length of a WU is currently running about 4.05 hours, slightly shorter than the last time I posted, but continuing to trend steady at around the 4.1 to 4.2 hour mark consistently. The average length of a work unit this past week varied between 4.05 and 4.14 hours. This continues to be remarkably steady. Still have not seen any of the batches from 122278 to 122402. The ovarian units started with 122403 as the lowest number.My latest batch number was 136160 which would give about 213 batches for the week. The batch count for last week was 195. Production increased this past week going from about 3.93million WU's to 4.17 million WU's completed. During this past week the time devoted to MCM1 was just slightly over an average of 279 years per day, up somewhat from the past week's 264. Originally we had 17,500 batches plus 9000 more batches, plus 5000 more batches (all approximate) for a total of 31,500 batches. Now we have an estimated 4000 more batches for a total of 35,500 batches. Since the percentage complete was moved back to 55%, I am estimating an additional 27,500 additional batches have been added which would give a new total of 63,000 total batches. Since 4 weeks ago the percentage moved to 56% then back to 55% and now up to 57%, I am returning to my previous estimate and discarding my assumption of an additional 2000 batches. At 10,000 work units per batch, this would be 630,000,000 work units (double redundancy), so total of 1,260,000,000 work units. As of today(September 10) we have processed 722,442,803 units. This would be about 57.3% of the known work units. Based on the 30 day running average the current work units should last to about March-April, 2020 (about 2 months shorter than my last estimate). When looking this far into the future the crystal ball gets very hazy. This not an end of project projection, just a projection of a probable end of the current (maybe) known work units. ![]() ![]() Cheers

The researchers will turn to other cancer-type work units when the current ones near completion. Last 30 day average results:637,496 Percentage Complete:Currently listed on the Research page:61%. It seems to have progressed at a rate of about 1% per week, but my figures are now a bit out of sync with the Research page. For the time being I will leave my estimate at 1.26 billion work units and will adjust as necessary to return to sync with the Research page.. The average length of a WU is currently running about 4.05 hours, slightly shorter than the last time I posted, but continuing to trend steady at around the 4.0 to 4.1 hour mark consistently. The average length of a work unit this past week varied between 4.03 and 4.07 hours. This continues to be remarkably steady. Still have not seen any of the batches from 122278 to 122402. The ovarian units started with 122403 as the lowest number.My latest batch number was 136797 which would give about 202 batches for the week. The batch count for last week was 221. Production increased this past week going from about 4.5million WU's to 4.55 million WU's completed. During this past week the time devoted to MCM1 was just slightly over an average of 300 years per day, up somewhat from the past week's 295. Originally we had 17,500 batches plus 9000 more batches, plus 5000 more batches (all approximate) for a total of 31,500 batches. Now we have an estimated 4000 more batches for a total of 35,500 batches. As of today(October 1) we have processed 735,775,473 units. This would be about 58.4% of the known work units. Based on the 30 day running average the current work units should last to about January 2020 (about 3 months shorter than my last estimate). When looking this far into the future the crystal ball gets very hazy. Hi,
----------------------------------------Sorry if I'm going a little off topic here but is Mapping Cancer Markers the more popular (or should I say releasing the most) WU's on WCG right now? This is definitely looking interesting. Thank you for the information.

Thank you for the information. MCM has been using about ~50% of WCG for as long as I've been tracking the progress & ECDs. ![]() |

@wolfman1360
----------------------------------------One way to see how much WUs and run times each project gets is to see their statistics. At the top of the this or any page click Research, click one of the projects, then Project Statistics from the tabs on the left. To see into the past for a specific project, click a set of numbers under Project Statistics History. Enjoy~ ![]() |
