Kiyo, you were correct to report the restart issue. I just wanted to make sure that neither you nor any other reader thought that PVer in itself was necessarily a problem with your results. Your English is very good applause

Re: Mapping Cancer Markers - Problems Thread

- From time to time my screensaver shows me next message: "Computing suspended because processor usage is high" and I don't know how to resolve this problem as to high usage of my processor.
- Also, always appears the next message" This was an unexpected problem with the World Community Grid screensaver". I don't know how to interpret this message to no longer appears.
Please, help me to resolve these 2 problem or to appreciate them.
Can I always ignore them?

Re: Mapping Cancer Markers - Problems Thread

Hi Petude,

Go toDevice Manager and select the profile (Default, Home, Work or School) that is correspondent to the computer where you are having this issue. Then select "Custom Profile" and scroll down the page till you find a setting called Suspend work if CPU usage is above % of cpu. Set it to 0 (no restriction) or a higher number that you'd like. Save the profile and go to your BOINC manager and update the WCG project.

That message shouldn't appear anymore if you set it to 0% or it will only appear if Non-BOINC CPU usage exceeds the number you entered.

Also, if I were you, I would disable the screensaver in order to save CPU processing power. Also, turn-off the screen instead to save electric power.

Erma

A checkpoint is where a task resumes from if for a number of reasons you need to restart task for example if you turn your computer off, when your computer restarts it will start the task from the latest checkpoint usually about every 10 minutes checkpoint is made

Re: Mapping Cancer Markers - Problems Thread

Hey hey,
Just a problem I THOUGHT I had turns out to be no problem at all but something kinda cool (to me).
I was updating my computers as my norm before morning and evening stats,
when I saw one that said 23.95 hours compute time and it was at 100%.
I was like, ok that's not good. An W7 I7 3770K running stock but with liquid for longevity sake.
So I looked up the result, found out my wingman had completed it in 43.something hours. shock
And to my astonishment both were pronounced valid.
Wingman claimed 128 points, i claimed 500+ and was granted around 300 something.

Ima gonna celebrate with a cup of coffee

Hey wingman, if your gonna work for almost TWO DAYS, dont be chincy,
Claim the BIG points cool

Re: Mapping Cancer Markers - Problems Thread

That is what happens when the two wingmen have widely varying machines. I seem to remember that somewhere on the wish list is a proposal to better pair machines so these big disparities don't happen. However, don't hold your breath. smile
Cheers

filchef, There is nothing you can do. You must wait until your wingman finishes with the workunits before they can be validated. This can often take a week or more. I have workunits pending from 2/7/2014. It all works out in the end.
