Re: An interesting month

I forgot to add the end: She'd started towards the bathroom door as if to block me and remember, I was walking in baby steps like I was 90 years old. She was maybe 5.3" and 110lbs soaking wet. I am 5'10" and 200lbs and I can palm a basketball with my hands. I looked at her quietly and said:" In my entire life I have never hit a woman but I am evaulating that decision right now so if you want to continue being able to walk you will take your backside and leave here right now." I never raised my voice and I wouldn't have ever hit her..but she didn't know that..:D

Re: An interesting month

Just wanted to add my best wishes for a speedy recovery, Dave.
As long as there are dedicated, caring people - there's still hope for this world.
Keep up your sense of humor, take good care and brighter days ahead!

Re: An interesting month

Hi Dave,

I also would like to add my wishes for a speedy recovery! As many have said take it easy and don't rush your recovery. Take good care of yourself!

Re: An interesting month

Truly glad to hear that you're now on your way towards recovery - and also, that you've still got your sense of humour about you. It's certainly heartening to realise as to how many people do care and are able to help in circumstances such as this.

Re: An interesting month

Thanks to all for the kind wishes.
I've learned so much from this experience.
We go through life and learn the things we need to know to do our jobs and also our hobbies and think we "know it all" but we don't.
I always thought of myself as a fairly smart guy but this has taught me just how much I didn't know.
Then the outpouring from friends was way beyond anything I ever expected.
The first day I could have visitors my sister came to the hospital and had printed out my FB page and what I saw brought the first smile to my face since the surgery.
These expressions from people that in all likelihood you will never meet does reach into your heart and soul.
Thank you.

Re: An interesting month

Movieman,
I read with interest your experiences in the CICU ward.
It was not until I got to the encounter with the Chinese nurse that the significance of the title began to take shape in my thinking. You may be aware that there is an ancient Chinese curse that goes something like this: "May you live in interesting times".
So here is my wish that you may have a long, long stretch of uninteresting times and healthy life ahead of you.
Salud!
Paul

Re: An interesting month

Thanks to all..
Today I got up and felt excellent.
Really, a big increase that surprised me.
Just a bit bored and "chomping at the bit" to get to work and actually accomplish something..

Re: An interesting month

I got my hands on a pair of the new 10 core Ivy Bridge Xeons..
Installed the suckers and no post.
My bios is supposed to be 'Ivy Bridge ready" BUT I have the feeling that my chips are "so" new that the microcode isn't in the bios..Hope to get this solved this week because the little kid that is still inside is dying to see how they will do.. biggrin
