Good Afternoon Team. OET has gone crazy - I ended up yesterday with a total WU count of 845 (76,000+ points) and about 110 WUs in PV Jail. The length sof some of the WUs were around 10 minutes. The weather here is getting very warm with 40C forecast for the end of the week. I had my irrigation system serviced a couple of days ago and I think the increased flow has disturbed sediment in the pipes with a result that some of the rotating nozzles don't. A bit of work required today methinks. Well that was less painful than I expected. Obviously there are lots of other things to set up. But hey....that's hey we do this. |

Thargor, sad to say, I allowed the upgrade and ran it for two days. Found that I just did not like it, too many 'extras' that were of no use to me or just plain did not need. So I rolled back to 7, then the silliness started, now will not let security patches to download and can only laughingly 'upgrade' to 10. I know that we are in the post Gates/Allen/Balmer MS, it still feels that they have not changed. From vague memory of what I did: - close AND Services-stop the Windows Update service. - open up Control Panel and go to Uninstall a Program. - in the window that appears, click on the "View Installed Updates" link. - find update KB3035583 in the list (this is the update that constantly wants you to update to Windows 10), remove/uninstall it. - reboot. - re-open Windows Update, find that same update that it now wants you to install, right-click and Hide Update. You should now be able to update Windows 7 normally, without having to worry about it upgrading to Windows 10. I did have to play around quite a bit, so the above may not be entirely accurate in what you need to do, depending on what you've already tried. |

Good morning everyone.
Thargor, thank you for the insightful comment about rolling back. The situation now is that I have a dual boot system, which means in 'project management speak' I will have a robust fall back position. Something a manager of mine said I should always have. |

Good Morning All.
----------------------------------------Whew, I'm so glad that I don't have a Windows based computer. With nearly all my OS updates, 1) they are free, 2) it is extremely rare that they cause problems with legacy software, 3) they are easy to reverse. OET continues with short sharp WUs. I have formed a hypothesis regarding the calculation of points, run time and averages as follows: = No. of Results is always spot on as a result is a result regardless of validity or being in PV jail etc. Run Time is CPU time and not elapsed time and is added only if the result has been released from PV jail. No. of Points depends on how many results have been released from or bypassed PV jail. I think that makes sense and will explain why there seems to be a widely different haul of points from similar run times and why on some days my run time is reported as 23h + when the maximum should be 20h. I'm now going to lie down in a darkened room!

Evening all.
----------------------------------------Glad to hear your computer is back up and running Domonijo, always good when things go according to plan. And RTS, stop trying to work out the points calculation, you'll send yourself round the twist! |

Good morning all, just off out into the garden before it gets too hot to work. I'm thinking of planting a border of sunflowers and poppies (non hallucinogenic variety). Temperature is already 30C and climbing. I got my irrigation sorted yesterday but I really need to install another well at least twice if not 3 times deeper than the existing one (25 metres).

----------------------------------------Genhsos Not quite to plan, close but no big smoking thing. Domonijo, we'll call it a resounding success then Crikey RTS, that's some big hole in the ground you want! Can you store any rainwater around the garden or is there nowhere suitable to have some butts to collect in? I'm so used to the traditional yellow sunflowers that this year was a bit odd seeing the red ones that my dad planted. Made a nice change having the yellows against the reds. Had a few OET units today at work that were taking around 3hrs to complete, strange when only a day or two ago some were taking less that 15mins. Just noticed that I'm 11 results away from passing the 25,000 result mark so should get that on the next update. Then it'll be onwards to the next 25k! |
