Re: Lots more GPU tasks available

Well done GB033533, I missed it first time round.
I remember when I had mostly emerald badges!

Re: Lots more GPU tasks available

Just to let the team know that our WCG output will be greatly reduced, a few days leading up to and during, Formula BOINC sprint events.

Keep on Crunching

I was thinking about GB033533's Emerald badge, and that started me looking at some of the long-standing team members, and that drew my eye to CONNIE who is the longest still serving member of Team UK, all the way back to 2004. Clearly not a big hitter or a badge chaser, but nonetheless completely encapsulates the ethos of distributed philanthropic computing. Keep on crunching!!!

Re: More Bling!

Nice one Alan. Like you I've been running MIP for the last couple of weeks so have got my 2 years before the project finishes. I've removed that project now.

As for Connie, you can only applaud. I think only one project has not got a runtime milestone, the African Climate, which was one of the first projects here I believe. Very impressive.
It's also good to see how many team members started so early in the life of WCG, which started way back in November 2004.

Re: 80 Core Beast!

Hey Mamajuanauk,

Just out of interest, as the CPU coolers are passive, what Server chassis were you running this build in?

No chassis, I used a custom built open case with a lid but no sides, fans in front of each heatsink, and the 1600 PSU providing increased airflow. Flat out the CPU's were running about 36 centigrade. Running in the garage also helped!

Awesome unit, but time for a change...

What's next????

Re: 80 Core Beast!

Oh okay that makes sense.

Personally I would suggest taking a look at Ryzen 9 CPUs (such as the 3900x). Low cost, High Freq, Large L3 cache, cheap mobos including bundles available.
