I presume they're generated in a wholly automated fashion, in the same way that my stats pages are, but it appears that "Snurk" hasn't put an automated front end on the request process, possibly deliberately. Note that sometimes the signatures don't get regenerated for several days at a time. I don't have that luxury with my stats pages. I get until the next 12 hour update to pull down the data, otherwise it is likely to all go to cock (technical term, for any non-computery types).

Yes that it what I meant. An automated front end would be ideal, surely it would save Snurk the time of posting links to each signature. As you said, maybe it's deliberate!

Good evening all (for those on a GMT -4 or more time zone). I see that DC and Brad94 are getting on like a (Digital) house on fire. I'll obviously have to get the (Digital) bucket of water ready (1 = Full, 0 = Empty)

I have a 64-bit bucket of water with 18,446,744,073,709,551,616 different fill levels. Good morning all. Looking good for your 60 years of runtime today TomNuttall.

Morning team,
----------------------------------------Thanks for the platitudes, my wife is doing well. As for myself, I have been taking morphine in many forms for over 15 years and I am well used to the side effects, could really not live without it, Hoping to get my first 5 year badge in MCM followed closely by one in OET. Should not take too long. ![]() |

Good afternoon team,
Do we have any Linux users in the house? I'm lead to believe that Linux or one of it's derivatives will yield more performance than a machine running Windows - any truth in that? One of my machines is a spare and were it for WCG would be idle so if dumping Windows and going Linux would see a gain then it's worth doing but be warned :) I would probably need a little* hand holding as currently I know as much about Linux as I do about macroeconomics (whatever that is). *As in little being masses. |

Paul_D As far as I know, Linux without a GUI uses less resources to run e.g. CPU processes. So theoretically it would allow for more CPU processes for WCG, this would only be a small amount in my experience but still if you're trying to get as much performance as possible then definitely something to consider.
----------------------------------------There's lots of articles talking about performance of Windows VS Linux e.g. http://tuxradar.com/content/benchmarked-ubuntu-vs-vista-vs-windows-7 I would recommend Ubuntu which is what I use (running on AWS), as it's easy to set up and install programs on. With AWS I can provision a server and run: #!/bin/bash The server is then running WCG without me even interacting. What does everyone else think? Happy to help with installing Linux if needed. :)
Bradley.
