Re: What is up with Grid?

My employer is already on the partner list... hence the encouragement to run WCG.

gordoma --
Glad to hear your employer is already a partner. I realize you are already committed to a team, but you might encourage your employer to build participation of his employees by team-building his (or her) partner team (I think all of the partners also have a team set up for their employees as part of the process). If he or she were to do that, perhaps team recognitions at work might draw more into the project. While team "MyOnlineTeam" is not a work related team, they do award "certificates" to their members as they reach milestones of participation. I am sure those pats on the back do a lot to keep their team members actively participating in the grid. They certainly have made a significant impact on the World Community Grid -- even more so when you realize that it started out as a team of a father and his two youngsters.

Keep on crunchin'

Re: What is up with Grid?

Well, so much for being coy about it - this might give a bit of a clue... but my employer has a number of teams already, depending on geography or business unit. 23 of the top 50 teams, including 6 of the top 10 teams comprising of my colleagues throughout the world.

I agree that for smaller businesses and organisations, promoting teams and competitiveness is a good recruiting tool and helps to increase involvment and commitment to the project... I don't think there's anything more I can do personally for Big Blue though.

Re: What is up with Grid?

All I can say is that with all the defections from UD, vaio's JTS2 team will be climbing up the ranks very quickly.

We will be working on it wink

Re: What is up with Grid?

I am a 5 year grid user with a rank in the 800's as my lowest stat. I am probably prouder of the longivity than I am with the ranking. When I started IBM was a big part of grid and I have always wondered why it all changed. Still

I am willing to put up with anything to remove cancer and I will go back to grid as soon as it's back up and running but I will never feel anything but contempt for the way they run it. As soon as it's done I will say goodby to them forever.

Re: What is up with Grid?

I understand your feelings on this Pond Scum. I've been crunching on UD for over 4 years now.

I've moved nearly half of my machines over to WCG and I don't think I'll be moving them back. The rest can keep crunching over there for cancer until the project wraps up and then I'm here full time I reckon!!

Re: What is up with Grid?

I have bumped this thread up, becasue it has a tremendous amount of valuable information in it. We are at a certain stage in the evolution of this grid, and we need to understand what the motivations to join and to remain on this grid are. All/most of this information has been summarised here in this thread, so grid Admins, have another read through, and draw the right onclusions. If you don't take action, we may end up sometime down the road in the same situation that UD is in now.

It is our right as children of this world to make mistakes - as long as we learn from them and do not repeat them!

Thankyou all who care and have given their personal time to share their thoughts.
