I do see the smiley but I personally would not mind seeing an open and honest discussion about different folding/crunching applications. At different times I have done folding@home, UD Cancer, various distributed.net things and have only found out about other projects because people have discussed things.

This is a message board and as long as the discussion does not contravene any board rules then I cannot see any problems. I would have thought that a thread promoting your UD team would either die very quickly because no-one was interested in it or it would have a lot of replies in it.

If the replies were defammatory rather than honest discussion, I would be one of the first to ask the moderators/admins to step in to try to rectify the situation. I do not seek censorship in any form but these forums are a great place to be with very friendly people in them.



Again personally, this type of censorship would be a reason for me not to become a member and try to help mankind out. If people are willing to give up the free cycles on their PCs (or corporate PCs as long as they have agreement) then it is up to them to decide what folding/crunching application they wish to donate those cycles to.

We have to remember that we are all doing this volantarily - no-one forces us to do this and heavy handed organisations will switch people off which in turn means that the possible cure for cancer/smallpox/temparature changes/whatever will take longer to do.

in my tour of various projects, i noticed there's moaning no matter whare you go...none of them are perfect.
