Re: Beta test for Say No to Schistosoma (May 24, 2012) Issues Thread

<edit> I excluded directory c:\programdata\boinc\projects\www.worldcommunitygrid.org from the security scans. Hate doing that though, because now anything in that directory will be ignored, including any little somethings from sources other than WCGrid...

Unfortunately even if you're ignoring the whole BOINC data-directory including sub-directories the SONAR-part of Norton will still stop anything it finds "suspicious", like "too high cpu-usage" and so on.
<snip>
Well, I did the exclusion, and it seems to work: I caught another BETA_SN2S, and it has been processing for over 100mins now.
Bit short on time right now, but it appears next weekend I will need to extend my directory exclusion to all BOINC.
My BOINC has been installed as a service (unfortunately my GPU did not make "the list").
But I do wonder whether WCGrid should send a friendly letter about SONAR to Symantec.
And now I have to reboot my machine for whatever reason... wink

<edit>
Reboot complete. BOINC reports....

Looks like all is well. Feel free to keep those betas coming, though... tongue

Think we're ready when the techs are ready to send out that second set of 7K units [but maybe that get's postponed until the AV and other issues have been resolved.

P.S. Had one "No Reply" to fix, just before the midnight hour. With 7... you were lurking ;?

It was 4 days from the initial distribution, so the buckets were out.

Re: Beta test for Say No to Schistosoma (May 24, 2012) Issues Thread

andzgrid,
SWEET, that is what I saw as well on my machine, nothing broke with it. Please make sure they validate properly, but I don't think that'll be an issue.

Thanks,
-Uplinger
The latest of my done-beta-SN2S-WUs to validate was on 2012.05.29Tu.0943.utc from wingWU#2 as wingWU#1 went No-reply. All of my beta-SN2S-WUs were evaluated as valid. Shutdown bug was nowhere to be found in my beta-testing there. Case closed. Mission accomplished.

P.S.
Now that sets me up to ask for more beta-WUs biggrin

Re: Beta test for Say No to Schistosoma (May 24, 2012) Issues Thread

I had a system crash while two beta units were running on my dual-core processor. The cause is believed to be a memory leak in another app, but it might be worthwhile to check them out anyway. They seemed to restart and finish fine. One is marked Valid and the other Too Late (apparently there is a downside to a long weekend). The units are
BETA_ SN2S_ ABE97928_ 0000029_ 1318_ 0
BETA_ SN2S_ ABE97928_ 0000029_ 0785_ 0
