Re: Beta test for Say No to Schistosoma (May 24, 2012) Issues Thread

I've gotten 27 so far. They are running on various Linux and MacOS versions. I've been killing and restarting them and I just can't get them to fail.

I restarted my i7 (8 threads) laptop with 2 betas. Both resumed from the last checkpoint as expected. Win7 64-bit, BOINC 6.10.58 64-bit.

No failures here. Rebooted with Win XP 32-bit. Picked up at checkpoints.

Looks good.

I was at work the entire time this beta test happened. Thus I was unable to do the shutdown, etc, and all 4 work units I received were returned with ERROR status:

So far so good with the ones I got.
Suspend / Resume , Shutdown / Restart , no problems.
One thing I did notice... Is it just my imagination or are these using more RAM than the regular production ones did ?
Maybe it is the CFSW ones I was running previously didn't let go of the memory or else these are using more than before.

Re: Beta test for Say No to Schistosoma (May 24, 2012) Issues Thread

Found 8 in queue this morning, started 3 and let them run half an hour. Did an orderly OS shutdown, i.e. let BOINC [7.0.28 testing release], do the OS shutdown detection. Power up resumed where they left off, at last checkpoints. Since [charged] batteries were included, also held the power-switch for 4 seconds to shut down cold. Not anticipating for that to cause task fail any more than other sciences statistically would. Given that before never had the issue on this device for SN2S, chances were low, unless the new code introduced something new.

Good thinking BTW of the crew to do this test on SN2S right when their production is having an intermission. Hopefully Inforium will pull it off soon to allow the feeder to be put back on, in higher gear, as no test is as good as full production.

Edit: holding the other 5 Beta WU's in case something odd/new is reported by a tester, to see if this can me reproduced on this W7-64 flattop.

Re: Beta test for Say No to Schistosoma (May 24, 2012) Issues Thread

Only oddity noticed, so far --> at 1h/58m CPU time each, progress for three tasks on the same box is 29.5%, 37.0%, 44.7%. Consistency! (Q6600 in Vista_x64, 32-bit boinc)

Running a bit slower on a faster machine (Q9300 in Vista_x64, 32-bit boinc).

Squirrelly 'CPU vs. %complete' numbers on Q9550 in W7_x64, 32-bit boinc, but percentages not as wildly scattered as on the Q6600.

After the cat 'accidentally' pushed several seconds on the power button of this laptop:

Running fine from last checkpoint after restart and I will check whether it will validate fine too.

Edit: On another 'remote' machine I've running 8. I'm not able to shutdown that machine.
2 'ABE' SN2S have less checkpoints and as the old WX frog said:
With ~equal runtime so far progress from 21% to 39% with all 8 running concurrently.
