Re: Lead time for GPU beta

sad I followed the procedure in Kevin's post and for my sins I received ~150 HCC CPU wu's that I will be aborting in the next few minutes and, of course, no GPU work. That is only for 7 cards on 4 machines. If I start the other 7 cards, I would lierally get ~300 wu's (cashe = 0.01 days) that I don't want for 80 CPU cores. If this is the case, I cannot participate in this Beta.

Apparently my instructions are unclear. It is simply that you have to be signed up for GPU and for Beta testing to participate.

Re: Lead time for GPU beta

I got 4 WUs on my Macs, but it appears that they are CPU based. Are these being sent out as check WUs?

Re: Lead time for GPU beta

That's a little surprising to read, and surmise that the GPU option on the device profile does have to be selected? If not, these GPU tasks could land on the unsuspecting

--//--

The GPU option is required to get any GPU work at all - on production apps or on beta apps (for the beta side of things, I see that we have a issue with the clarity of the instruction for that option).

To get the beta app, you have to be opted into the beta testing.

In order to get a beta gpu app version, you have to be signed up for both beta testing and gpu app versions.

Re: Lead time for GPU beta

Was getting 32 credits per WU
That has just jumped to 212 credits biggrin
Having trouble keeping it busy though.
At the moment cannot get my 240 to crunch one of these.

Re: Lead time for GPU beta

I have an ATI Radeon HD 4870 X2 card.
On the Status Page I see only errors:

Error: cl_khr_local_int32_base_atomics extension required by this program is not supported

What this message means? My card is not supported or maybe something wrong with drivers or something...

Re: Lead time for GPU beta

Platoon,

You proof not to have read the announcement: https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread_thread,32803

Says if your card does not support that feature, your card cant run this application, which is what I now understand has to be level 1.2 (of OpenCL?)

Re: Lead time for GPU beta

Ah, now I understand why I'm getting reached daily limit message. 1 task was invalid and another was "Too Late". 8 replications for that work unit; 3 "Error", 5 "Too Late"

Re: Lead time for GPU beta

Thanks for the clarification, Kevin. That is good news. I brought up the other 7 cards. I have a lot of CPU betas but completed 3 GPU betas. Unfortunately they all ran on Dataman07 and all on GPU00 (GTX460) nothing on GPU01. All of them ran so quickly they were completed and reported before I could see CPU/GPU usage on BOINCTasks. In WCG they show a run time of 0.08 CPU hours and two show 100.3 BOINC credits and the other shows 204.3 BOINC credits. Too early to tell anything until I get more across multiple machines and multiple GPUs.
peace
EDIT: I looked in BOINCTasks History and all three seemed to have run in 5 minutes clock (CPU & GPU) and used 0.79 of CPU and 1 GPU. Still too early to tell anything.
EDIT 2: On the CPU test side, I am getting a consistant 26 BOINC credits for 1.1 CPU hours (i7 970). That seems to me to be an equitible spread of BOINC credits between a CPU job and a GPU job. cool
