Re: Lead time for GPU beta

Could be wrong (very likely) but I don't think the HCC project field needs to be checked, in this case 'Beta' should be the project setting it's coupled to.

Increasing the cache a bit and with a Beta only profile and the GPU opt-in box checked I get,

13/03/2012 11:42:13 AM World Community Grid Sending scheduler request: To fetch work.
13/03/2012 11:42:13 AM World Community Grid Requesting new tasks for GPU
13/03/2012 11:42:14 AM World Community Grid Scheduler request completed: got 0 new tasks
13/03/2012 11:42:14 AM World Community Grid Message from server: No tasks sent

There is usually a lag time between when they are announced and when they actualy hit the feeder...

Beta is not a Device Profile option. In past, the device profile options for CEP2 were coupled to the Beta opt in i.e. if you set overrides on CEP2, they also applied to the BETA.

The GPU option is very clearly coupled to the CPU option at this time... no HCC selected, no GPU for HCC (subject to change with maybe a notice ,0). We'll find out when the test tasks start flowing.

--//--

Correct, Seke. I turned off HCC and it no longer checks HCC for GPU. I have Dengue checked and it checks Dengue for GPU.

Re: Lead time for GPU beta

Watch this line... the feeder was started whilst experimenting with disk space allocation to perm.loose the old beta files:

13/03/2012 17:17:19 | World Community Grid | Message from server: Beta - Help Conquer Cancer needs 47.68MB more disk space. You currently have 0.00 MB available and it needs 47.68 MB.

edit: Not so sure this is a GPU task. Are these benchmark/reference tasks to compare to the GPU units?

Re: Lead time for GPU beta

edit: DM you did the foot shoot with your HCC aborts. Quota 1.

laughing Yes, actually both feet. biggrin First, I never came back here to re-certify my machines as reliable after the software upgrade and then I aborted 170 HCC CPU wu's. However I knew that would happen and it is OK as having to run hundreds of HCC CPU wu's to get the occasional HCC GPU Beta is a show stopper for me. I'm am back at DNA World (CPU) and Einstein (GPU) until things sort out here. Cheers. coffee

peace

Re: Lead time for GPU beta

13/03/2012 16:30:52 | World Community Grid | [mem_usage] BETA_X0000131280384201112141253_1: WS 32.23MB, smoothed 32.23MB, page 32.96MB, 0.00 page faults/sec, user CPU 820.828, kernel CPU 0.281

18% in and No GPU use!
Is this actually a CPU Beta?

It would make sense to run CPU and GPU tasks, to compare credit.

- 20% 16min i7-2600 Winx64 (6 threads used).

Re: Lead time for GPU beta

We are sending both cpu and gpu in this test. Like you said, we need to test credit as well as the app.

Re: Lead time for GPU beta

See my edit note in previous post... no these are CPU as Elapsed and CPU time are practically same in BOINCTasks. Could be these are benchmark/reference units [which will anyhow add to the Beeehta badge]
