The datime (date+time) now is: 2012.03.06Tu.2200.utc, or T-plus-60minutes. May I now have my machine communicate with the new "GPU-aware" WCG Boinc-server software? ; Might I suggest you go hang out at the official announcement thread with the other 74 people? I'm certain that will be the first place you'll receive word about when the process is finished. Edited to include quote. It invariably jumps a page when I reply without quoting. ![]() Distributed computing volunteer since September 27, 2000 [Edit 1 times, last edit by KWSN - A Shrubbery at Mar 6, 2012 10:13:56 PM] |

Thread for the ohs and ahs related to the March 6, 2012 server upgrade as announced here: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread_thread,32678 with some revelatory insight as posted by knreed over here http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/printpost_post,366756 After the upgrade: 1. All hosts start as having to proof again to be a reliable cruncher... your Zero redundant tasks will run in quorum 2 for a period of time till reproved. 2. The credit system will be re-balancing according better performance management and contribution algorithms with anticipated surprises of yet unknown outcome. 3. Messaging with client may see new functional event logging being recorded for BOINC 5/6/7-alpha contributors at WCG. 4. Any other related stuff... connection issues etc. Stay cool and dont forget to buffer up a bit, and not 1 hour before the event... the actual times of start and stop have not always been exact UT ;O)... last large planned outage started an hour earlier! Those that can/will, set your client offline, and watch the Known Issues and BOINC Support forum thread on developments. The forums are not planned to go offline, just BOINC. And as the famous butcher in Dad's Army, please don't panic at 21:02 UTC, if things do not come back presto pronto. --//-- Edit: Past write-up how to last outage proceeded: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread_thread,32391 Thanks for all the hard work you do. Given the complexity of the entire WCG/BOINC enterprise with the communications, the multiplicity of computers and operating systems and the WCG programs, I marvel constantly that it works at all. Thanks to all you volunteer community advisors and others! ![]() crunching, crunching, crunching. AMD Ryzen 5 2600 6-core Processor with Windows 11 64 Pro. Am I missing something? Apparently there is no way to turn off CPU processing and accept only GPU processing as is done with other projects like Einstein and Milkyway GPU processing. ![]() Why would you want to do that? ![]() I'll look at putting that option in. The <no_cpu> tag exists on the BOINC side, we just need enable via our website and test. Kevin...could you also make it where you could choose which projects use GPU's? Other projects do this and if WCG takes on GPU projects in the future, some may want to support one project but not another. I know HCC will be first to get GPU, but I have a feeling we will see others in the future. Right now the option looks to be all or nothing. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

One of my machines has grabbed 3 new workunits (I forgot to pre-empt the downtime), but another is sat saying "feeder not running". It's trickling back online...

The My Projects/Device Profiles user-interfaces need a good going over. As the options get more complex (as if they aren't already complex) we will take a look how to streamline the interface and make it more flexible AND make it not intimidating to someone who has no idea what a GPU is. |

Work is going out. There were some surprises with transition cases that we didn't observe in our testing so we had to some quick fixes. Unfortunately, a few early results returned will have to be rerun
