1. All hosts start as having to proof again to be a reliable cruncher... your Zero redundant tasks will run in quorum 2 for a period of time till reproved. Just curious, how will be handled the resends just after the servers are up again? I mean, if there won't be any "reliable" host at that moment, who will get short-deadlined tasks? |

Nothing has validated for me since 04:12PM UTC, though there are quorum complete results. Non ho capito niente.

I now have validations for GFAM and SN2S at 19:14 UTC onwards. Può capire ancora una volta. [Translation c/o Bing]

Techs/CAs:
Would the time-table below be correct, assuming zero-flaw (all times in utc): --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2012.03.06Tu 0005 > pre-final work/results update using old BOINC-server code . . 1205 > final work/result update using old BOINC-server code . . 1430-2100 > the outage period . 2012.03.07We 0005 > first work/result update using new BOINC-server code --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ; |

assuming zero-flaw Yes andzgrid. That is correct to the minute. The really nice thing about working in IT is that computers make it possible to work in a well-planned structured environment without any surprises. Lawrence [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Mar 5, 2012 11:59:30 PM] |

Moving on, the still scheduled outage is to commence at T - your local time offset.
Down here in the Italian boot we're counting on some variability, as humans are in charge of the servers, so entered actually in the local preference box for Tuesday: 22:30-15:00, yes the stop time after the resume time as BOINC will interpret this as networking from 00:00-15:00 and from 22:30 to 24:00 on Tuesday (my time). Then for the rest of the week it will revert to the previous schedule which is from 10:30 to 1:05, for nightly suspended network crunching. Greetings from not far off Campo Basso (Base Camp ;-) --//-- |

strange to see 00:00 as such time does not excist but 00:01 does. a 24 hour day here goes from 00:01 - 24:00
this is just a time note for a 24hour meaning |

There's lots of strangeness outside Texas, but I've seen digital clocks actually jump from 23:59 to 00:00, even in Dallas, Forth Worth. ;>)
----------------------------------------Entering 00:01 as start time would really stop networking or crunching from 00:00 to 00:01 if the end time were set as 24:00, since computers convert time to decimal fraction, so 00:01 converts to 0.006944. The common notation for BOINC for a full 24 hour day is 00:00-00:00 or 00:00-24:00, where both are allowed. You could also enter 00:01 to 00:01. BOINC will interpret any matching pair as a full 1440 minute day. So much for the time filler side. :D --//-- [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Mar 6, 2012 12:23:15 PM] |

The British Army never has 0000 or 2400. It goes from 2359 to 0001. We always said you could do what you wanted in those 2 minutes as the Army refused to accept they existed!
Quite logical really as 0000 or 2400 could cause confusion as to which midnight on which day it was, their way was fool proof |

Just curious, how will be handled the resends just after the servers are up again? I mean, if there won't be any "reliable" host at that moment, who will get short-deadlined tasks? The way that 'reliable' works is that when it is determined that we need another copy sent out for a workunit, that one can have its priority raised by a certain amount. Additionally, for copies that are being sent out, there is a setting that controls how high the priority needs to be on the copy to be required to go to to a 'reliable' host. We will be setting this value to a level where no results will qualify to be sent to a reliable host. After a few days we will be able to re-enable this. |
