Well to me it does. If there are no reliable hosts, all goes quorum 2, either immediate or in the second instance. At present we have a mix of work in the cycle.
1. Work assigned prior to the upgrade, which was circulated using the reliability rating. Returned after the upgrade requires a 2nd wingman. Not aware that at present time tasks are allowed to go it alone. 2. Loss of some post service resume *early* returned results due some bad rule in the transitioner that had not shown it's face during testing. Not seen any go AWOL since the batch I had last night... that's now 18 hours ago. Since all return fine, with a little delay on validations at times. Noted in this thread, not that thread ;>) --//-- |

1. Work assigned prior to the upgrade, which was circulated using the reliability rating. Returned after the upgrade requires a 2nd wingman. Not aware that at present time tasks are allowed to go it alone. Had 5 CEP2s returned at around 07.03.12 02:50:25 which caused each another "waiting to be sent" job. All 5 are still stuck at "waiting to be sent". At about the same time, i downloaded 4 fresh ones and already returned them. Points claims went down to almost-normal. Here's the 5 stuck jobs (bottom) and the 4 afterwards (top): E206559_ 855_ C.24.C19H14N2SSi2.01988288.2.set1d06_ 1-- Callisto Pending Validation 07.03.12 02:30:23 07.03.12 15:06:52 12.00 161.4 / 0.0 E206558_ 318_ C.26.C20H10N4OS.01355349.2.set1d06_ 0-- Callisto Pending Validation 07.03.12 02:29:42 07.03.12 15:06:52 12.00 161.3 / 0.0 E206558_ 773_ C.26.C20H10N4OS.01816824.2.set1d06_ 1-- Callisto Pending Validation 07.03.12 02:29:08 07.03.12 15:06:52 12.00 161.6 / 0.0 E206558_ 995_ C.24.C19H12N2OSeSi.01609915.1.set1d06_ 0-- Callisto Pending Validation 07.03.12 02:29:01 07.03.12 15:06:52 12.00 161.4 / 0.0 E206552_ 683_ C.24.C21H14S2Si.01577768.1.set1d06_ 0-- Callisto Inconclusive 06.03.12 11:23:47 07.03.12 02:56:22 12.00 418.4 / 0.0 E206552_ 065_ C.25.C21H12N2S2.01419391.3.set1d06_ 0-- Callisto Inconclusive 06.03.12 11:23:34 07.03.12 02:50:42 12.00 418.4 / 0.0 E206552_ 199_ C.25.C19H12N4SSi.01298460.2.set1d06_ 1-- Callisto Pending Validation 06.03.12 11:23:34 07.03.12 02:50:25 12.00 418.4 / 0.0 E206552_ 777_ C.24.C20H14OSSi2.01567862.4.set1d06_ 0-- Callisto Inconclusive 06.03.12 11:23:16 07.03.12 02:49:37 12.00 418.4 / 0.0 E206552_ 734_ C.24.C19H12N2OSeSi.01577412.3.set1d06_ 0-- Callisto Inconclusive 06.03.12 11:23:16 07.03.12 02:49:37 12.00 418.4 / 0.0 EDIT: Resolved - the wingmen jobs, stuck at "waiting to be sent" status, have all been sent after 27 hours. Downloading and quota problems seem to be cleared for me now.
----------------------------------------After a short server unavailability, then a strange message "Another scheduler instance is running for this host" when resuming, downloading started again without any quota message but a few series of "Resent lost task ..." messages. Two days of cache loaded now, so problem solved as far as I am concerned. ![]() |

One thing that I don't think's been mentioned, and which is probably something to do with this update, is that (for GFAM & CEP2 - those being the only 2 projects I've downloaded new work for), I'm seeing a Due Date for new work of the 19th of March - i.e., in 12 days time, whilst on my BoincTasks session, it's still showing as the 17th... Is this just a tempory blip? There is the concept of a 'grace period' for results that are returned shortly after the deadline. Our old code handled it one way, and BOINC has implemented it a different way. Our code had the deadline on the website and the agent identical, but it would delay deleting the canonical result files so that a result that was overdue but returned before the grace period ended would still get credit. The new BOINC code does this differently by sending one deadline to the client and the deadline + grace period in the database. The server then just uses the database deadline. |

The other good news is, that all me "Try Validation" results have after hitting the button converted to valid and several that did not have the option, but were complete further down, have so too. Net, my pre-upgrade snapshot of the PV jail had 47 inmates and now there are 44.

Thanks for all the notes on the inconclusive issue. So far everything that I have done on my system that completed today has been tossed into the Inconclusive category - probably given that all of that work was downloaded to my machines before yesterday. Since more stuff is happening on March 8th, I guess I'll just sit tight and figure everything I have finishing up over the next couple days will likely spend some time in Inconclusive status while everything shakes itself out.

The March 8, General File System conversion has been postponed to the 15th. See http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread_thread,32741

Yep just say the move to 3/15 from 3/08 on the conversion. That will hopefully allow me to clear out some work between now and then and have a smaller amount outstanding on 3/15 to allow for running through that day without downloads and still keep my computer busy crunching world community grid work.

Of the WUs that I have returned since the upgrade, but were sent before the upgrade are either in PV state or inconclusive. As for all the ones I sent while WCG was coming up are lost.
----------------------------------------I haven't sent any back yet that were sent out after the upgrade. Hopefully better news in 3 days. Patrick ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by pcwr at Mar 7, 2012 8:33:02 PM] |

What better news in 3 days? Why 3 days? It is no good news if you hold back completed tasks when the validators are working perfectly fine at this point and they will not be interrupted until the 15th. What you will be missing out on too is the high credits currently granted... in three days time they'll bound to have gravitated to a lower average.
