Most likely when it didn't pan out he couldn't take the criticism.
----------------------------------------I'm not here to say it will or won't work, just watching the REALLY SLOW theatre. Now people are really exited about renewables or fusion... They have given up on LENR, cold fusion, crackpot schemes whatever you want to call it... I am not the risk taker, well kinda with a $22,000 solar panel system for a house I lived in less than 2 years. If we don't take the chances, the world wont reap the rewards... P.S. He wasn't the only contributor to this thread. ![]() |

Something I saw today brought this thread to mind. So I dropped I to see what amazing developments had come to pass given the supposed astounding progress with cold fusion that we were being told about in this thread. Years have passed and imminent launch dates, when we were supposed to shortly have a MrFusion (TM) power plant in every home (and time travelling car), have come and gone.
TBH I'm not that surprised that nothing has come of it, though it would have been nice for my scepticism to be proved unfounded. What made me think of this thread? Dilbert of course. I find it fascinating how much Scott Adams can say about humanity in just three little cartoons. |

Fusion requires lots of gravity. Not replicable on earth.

Would Einstein do a full revolution in his grave on that observation too?
The successor to Tokamak is here http://www.sciencemag.org/news/2015/10/bizarr...might-save-nuclear-fusion and http://www.ipp.mpg.de/4073918/07_16 |

Here is an updated article.
----------------------------------------http://phys.org/news/2016-06-scientific-exper...wendelstein-x-fusion.html And a brief summary in the article, The experiments started in February and continued until March 2016. After that, it was planned to open the plasma vessel again to enable the installation of carbon tiles to protect the vessel walls. This will make it possible to reach higher heat power, higher temperatures and longer discharges of around one second. Further phased developments are planned until 30-minute discharges can be generated in approximately four years' time, and it will be possible to test whether the Wendelstein 7-X can fulfil its optimization targets at a full heat power of 20 megawatts. ![]() |

The second link in my post on Wendelstein is of July 8, directly from the horse's mouth (Max Planck Inst. ;)
----------------------------------------The beauty of this form of fusion is an immediate cessation, the moment the process is stopped, no radiating rods. [Edit 1 times, last edit by SekeRob* at Aug 28, 2016 4:37:09 PM] |

Road map to clean energy using laser beam ignition of boron-hydrogen fusion
----------------------------------------https://www.cambridge.org/core/journals/laser...C1BC9E0A588FB3ABAA993078C From the UNIVERSITY OF NEW SOUTH WALES and the “coming to a power plant near you in 30 to 50 years” department A laser-driven technique for creating fusion that dispenses with the need for radioactive fuel elements and leaves no toxic radioactive waste is now within reach, say researchers https://wattsupwiththat.com/2017/12/14/laser-...ing-contender-for-energy/ [Edit 1 times, last edit by GeraldRube at Dec 14, 2017 3:23:03 PM] |

France's $21 billion nuclear fusion reactor is now halfway complete
----------------------------------------The fusion reactor everyone is anticipating is currently under construction in France. It's called the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) and could be the fusion reactor to lead a new era of clean energy. The reactor recently hit a major milestone, its construction is halfway complete. Following is a transcript of the video. http://www.businessinsider.com/iter-internati...olutionize-energy-2016-10 |
